Diesel Cruze

I was really excited, but no one is going to buy this. Granted, it is based upon a fully-loaded LTZ model, but

- automatic only

- Starts at almost 26K

- Same virtual MPG as the Cruze Eco

- has urea injection to pass emissions....which will run out in 10K.

No one is going to buy this. Which is a damn shame, but I understand totally.

MrH

Yeah, I don't think this is going to sell either.  Just way too costly, not enough pro's.  Not really sure what the rationale behind bringing this over was.

Should put a diesel into a heavier car like a small SUV.

Real world mpg should be a bit higher.

Equinox would be great, but no one woukd buy tjat either.

No one will buy this car. Maybe if it was the 1.7 and cheaper, but as of right now its DoA.

I was considering a diesel but definitely not this, didn't like the Cruze when I test drove it at the car show.  I wouldn't buy a Chevy or Ford simply because they feel like I'm driving a rental car.

Yeah. They'll try out a diesel in a Cruze, but the Tahoe and Suburban will stay petrol. Makes so much sense...

Madman

Not bad, but I'd still rather have a Volkswagen Jetta TDI SportWagen with a six speed manual.  Even so, I hope the Cruze 2.0 TD does well, because it will encourage others to start marketing Diesels here, too.  Maybe even Ford will finally start selling the Focus diesel they promised us a few years ago.

At 16,000 km? What's the big deal? Then drive to the dealership and have it topped up.

It's part of car maintenance.

I don't need urea in a gas-engined car.

Owning a diesel Cruze means that you'll just have to top up the urea tank at a certain mileage. I don't see what the big deal is.

It'll probably be topped off when the oil is changed.

The VW doesn't, and because of this, (coupled with the lower price) means it's cheaper to run and buy.

That's what they do at American MB dealerships to the diesel cars from what I understand. The urea tank is filled up when the client visits the dealer for whatever reason.

They even have a diesel engine plan which was designed to fit into the same hole as the small block.  Stupid.

One thing to keep in mind is that this is the most powerful Cruze you can buy. It's not unusual to pay more for the most powerful engine.

No matter how you cut it, its 26 grand for a Cruze.
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

The whole ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel thing has pretty much ruined the prospects of a widespread diesel passenger cars for the forseeable future.

dealers really mark up urea fill-up costs, particularly mercedes.  it's not too expensive if you get it at an auto parts store.

Sounds like a fairly stupid product. How much more is this than the comparable Cruze Eco?

There is no comparable Eco. The diesel is based upon the LTZ model.

Eh, premium fuel that's used in a turbo engine costs the same.

It's nice to have options. The Europeans have a dozen or more powertrain and trim options on every car model.
