I actually think it looks good, but I agree with the poster above that said the Pontiac G8 actually looked better on the outside.

Volume is so low (2,500?) sounds like it can't not flop.

The SRT cars are to overwrought for the masses; they're for dedicated fanboys and Mopar ones at that (the most rabid). The SS is for the guy who is disappointed in CTS performance.

LOL

You'd be amazed at what GM is capable of.

So apparently the Chevy SS being used as a pace car at last night's Daytona race caught fire during a caution, prompting a second caution so they could put the fire out and tow it off of the track.  Hope this was a one-off fluke.

Then I guess we only have to worry about the Caprice police cars going up in flames.

Coming from you, I don't know if that means that you literally had no problems with them, or that your entire parking lot is currently on fire.

Haha.  The only vehicles giving us grief are Fords.

Chevrolet's hard at work on the new for '14 SS sedan's next evolution; it's expected sooner rather than later. Price and details aren't known, but big upgrades for the next LS3-powered SS are set.

Look for a manual transmission and GM's Magnetic Ride Control suspension. We hear the manual SS arrives this summer as a 2015, with a $2,000-$3,000 premium over today's automatic-only $44,470 sticker.

Given the choice between the Chevy SS and the Chrysler 300, I gotta go with the Chrysler.  Even if the SS is the sharper drive, I just can't live with rental car looks.  The 300 has a sense of menace to it, especially in black or dark charcoal grey.  It almost looks as if it should come standard with a dead body in the trunk!

Dat jungle fever green

I don't understand the huge range of weirdo colors for a couple thousand vehicles though. Just sounds like it will to add the the rarity of vehicles so dealerships will have another stupid reason to try and mark them up.

Thank god for the ausies and the germans.

Without them, we wouldn't have these awesome american sedan's flexing their muscle for these US magazine comparo's.

I think the large(ish) range of fairly odd(for us) colors are pretty common down under. Holden has a pretty "interesting" color palette for their cars.

And interesting names for the colors. Here in the US my car paint is called White Hot but Down Under its called Heron White!

You're my age.  We're getting old.  Plus, now that you're married, your life expectancy has gone way down, since you're more likely to be poisoned by your wife.

Saw one of these yesterday at the autocross. Kinda boring looking (silver paint), but was pretty quick and nimble. Wouldn't pay that much money for one though.

I'd pay the cost of entry. The interior is nicely appointed and I think it looks great. I like a sleeper.

Agreed.

I've seen the blue pace car in person and it looked excellent.  Like really really good.

It's a pleasant enough looking car, but who's buying it at near $50k?

I like it too. It's a far better car than the domestic competition (Taurus SHO, SRT-8 cars). The value proposition will be much improved though with the new LT1 and 8sp AT or 6 MT).
