The value proposition will be much improved though with the new LT1 and 8sp AT or 6 MT).
Agreed!

I kind of doubt the LT1 will make it in the vehicle.  It'll only run for a few years, and LT1 means direct injection, so that means whole new fuel system.

I like it too. It's a far better car than the domestic competition (Taurus SHO, SRT-8 cars). The value proposition will be much improved though with the new LT1 and 8sp AT or 6 MT).

But it's still a Chevy (and looks like one too). I just don't see how there's upside for Chevrolet. Seems unlikely they are making money on it, and it isn't going to have any kind of halo impact.

True. This probably means we won't see the LT1 in the Camaro until the next one comes out... though I imagine that will be out pretty soon too.

I really feel for any early buyers of this. Magneto shocks and 6MT are serious upgrades.

Chevrolet engineers may be working on a new track-oriented handling package for the SS sport sedan.

Inspired by the 1LE package for the Chevrolet Camaro SS, the option would likely include a "square" wheel and tire setup (equal sizes front and rear for neutral handling) and a revised suspension.

The SS was made available with a six-speed manual transmission and Chevrolet's adaptive suspension for 2015. Any hypothetical handling package would likely delete Magnetic Ride Control in favor of track-tuned dampers, but the project is still just a concept.

According to Motor Trend, the main obstacle to the introduction of such a package is cost, but if engineers get the green light, it could be ready in as little as three to six months.

This thing is still alive? I thought all the aussie market platforms were changing and going to kill all these transplants. Not to mention who in the hell is even buying them.

I wish GM would have shown this type of persistence with some more worthwhile projects(their kappa twins for example).

Funny side note, I searched Kappa twins just to make sure that was the platform for the sol/sky's.

This was the top result:

Ahh the good old days.

I saw one today and I thought it was an Impala with a body kit.

So you correctly identified it, good for you. I don't know if I would be able to do that, and I usually have a pretty good eye for detail.

I was only able to because the model name was stamped on the back.

Actually I was joking.

I meant that calling it an impala with a body kit is the correct identification.

I saw one a couple weeks ago. I thought it looked great. Very understated.

I haven't either, though admittedly it isn't much of a standout. So you never know, I think the size more than anything is what will eventually catch my eye.

The same people that jizz all over E39 M5s love to call the Chevy SS bland and boring, yet the M5 is subtle and understated...

The SS is awesome. Hope it hangs on long enough to get the LT1 though.

It won't. Pretty much already decided the LT1 is a no go for the SS. LT1 = direct injection = totally new fuel system. It's only got a year or two of production left.

Hopefully it comes back in the Alpha platform. LOL @ "sports sedans" with next to no third pedal opportunities.
