Hmmm, specs say it's 250 hp. 7.3 mpg (lulz) and 185 mile range (more lulz).

I thing it's fair to say I win the official CarSpin gas whore award.

Mileage should be better than that I consistently got 9-10 MPG with my Eldo- which was heavier and with a larger engine.
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

Ontario. This will never see Nfld's salt-laden air. I should leave the AC in? Probably right. The '71 Riv 455 put out 335 hp, and the '72 was restricted to just 225hp by all the smog crap. I'm reading the Buick V8's forum to learn more about it. I really like what one guy did with his 455... he got rid of the smog stuff, installed a Holley 850 carb, new crank and intake/exhaust manifolds, and now it's putting out more than 500hp.
It would be pretty unbearable in a Southern Ontario summer without A/C.

hotrodalex

Definitely keep the A/C.

You should be able to get over 10 mpg, too. Get rid of the smog crap and let it breathe and it'll be better.

It's in Stirling, 20 kms north of me. The seller owns the Ford dealership, and he bought it in Texas last summer.

I don't want car loan(s), and any decent Porsche would kill my budget. I just bought a house, and I have to put about 30k into it (upgrade to 200 amp, 2nd bathroom, garage the way I want it). I have friends in the local classic car club, and the price of this Riv made me jump on it. I have about 20k left in my car budget to get a sports car... maybe an NC Miata, Audi TT, or S2000. Cobra is out... did an estimate with Western Canada Cobras and the total kit before donor is $28k.

Nice. I'd go with a mild 455 rebuild - carb/heads/cam/manifold and about a 9.5:1 CR. Should yield a very streetable ~400 hp.

If that was possible Buick would have done it from the factory.

Uh, Buick pretty much did in the form of the Stage 1 455 found in the Buick GSX:

The 455 is an interesting motor. It was one of the first "thin wall" casting blocks such that it weighed about the same as a small block Chevy.

What is the first thing Cougs always says when someone wants to do mods to their cars?  Exactly.  It's called sarcasm.
