The multi-color (seemingly tricolored) affect/scheme of the richly appointed interior is very stylish. The seat fabric looks more cloth or suede than what I assume is authentic leather all around or perhaps a combination of trend setting leather and suede. Magnificent nonetheless!

Lol, they picked Katy Perry for their promo shots.

The back end of it is hideous.  All new Mercedes look so droopy.  Why is it melting and crying?  I feel like it just screams, "KILL ME NOW".

Also, what is this in the glove box?  Is this the perfume container (seriously, it's supposed to have some sort of aroma thing in it)?

I'm with you, the rear is a bit droopy. I thought that was reserved for the CLA, but I guess that will become an MB thing. Probably in search of better aero

Oh no, an iPad instead of gauges. That will age terribly, like that green touchscreen on the Reatta.

Yeah, but that touchscreen looked like shit when it debuted.  These don't.

I don't want to come off as too critical. I would love, love to be given one of these to drive for a week. It seems a stunning vehicle.

It's just the rear lets the rest of the car down. Even when I saw this shot, I thought, "What's wrong with the rear?" It looks unfinished or something.

Agreed these are spy shots and not showing the car off to its best. Will be happy to look at more pics, and looking forward to seeing them on the street (which, living in NYC is a certainty every day).

It would be a vast improvement if the taillight met with the decklid cut-line. As is, it kinda has a cheap "pieced-together" look.

I have a TALENT for predicting future classics.  :praise:

Here's some classic car advice from the man himself: buy a 1974 Dodge Monaco from your local junkyard. It'll be worth hundreds of thousands in a couple of years once people start realizing the value of these babies.

YO

Man this is crazy... From our clients, I've had nothing but positive comments about the back end, and bland negative comments about the front. The general feeling is the front end is too plain vs the mid-model E Class, CLS and CLA.  Can't wait to see it in person in a few months.

I'd like to see some better lit pictures, but it looks spectacular.  The only thing I would change is the single cowl over the LCD's to a dual cowl, but other than that, it looks great.

+1

In black it'd look even better....I like the rear actually.

I see a little Bentley in that back end.

I do too....but fine by me.

Will this be at NYIAS?

There was much hype about the MY14 S-Class sedan making its debut at the NAIAS in NYC. Well, M-Benz, where is it  ?

No there was not.

Mercedes said a while back that the launch of the W222 is on the 15th May in Stuttgart.

No-one ever expected it in New York.

Thanx Colin! Read that it would be, but obviously not in a reliable publication. It makes perfect sense for a launch in its homeland. Much to see from 'Benz nevertheless.

Colin

Yes, they decided to make the global launch of the much over-hyped CLA 45 AMG in New York.

I will interested in everyone's opinion of this car when we see it.... especially after you all try to get into the back of it!

That's exactly what I was thinking.  Inside is stunning.  Outside looks great, till you get to the butt.  Ugh.  Swing and a miss!
