Yeah..from some angles the uppers appear to be dark brown, in others they appear black. The latter is definitely preferable.

Regardless, this thing looks sweet. 5-series sized I take it?

MrH

Upper looks black, with black suede accents.  Brown door inserts and seats?  Maybe too many colors, but I don't think it looks bad.

More or less to love, hate or feel meh about?
At first view, I thought they missed the mark, but looking at them again, I'm starting to really dig it.

Looks great. The glossy glossy interior is reminiscient of the Volt.

I hear that the wagon will no longer be offered.  Stupid Americans still buying SUVs  :hammerhead:

Come on, I don't think anyone thought they were going to bring that thing back. I'm sure GM itself knew they would sell like 3 of them.

It does look pretty damn good.  Looks closer in size to the last STS than the last CTS, which makes sense.

I have heard rumors of a brand new Buick Grand National, which will likely get this engine.

GoCougs

Uhhh, looks like the current E-class (= not good IMO). Does look a lot more upscale though:

Eek......... those lights all down the front corners.

My informed source told me last week that the back was controversial...... I think he should have said the front. Form what I've seen, the back looks quite normal, but the front will take some getting used to.

At this rate the facelift is going to consist solely of a wall of LED's replacing the grill, headlamps, and perhaps the wheels too.

I've probably seen enough to count on my fingers, but they're cool. I'd love a CTS-V wagon. In fact, out of all the available CTS-V body styles, I would take the wagon.

What I really like about the CTS wagon is that they were able to give it fins without making it look retro or anything. Really cool.

I like the wagon a lot, especially for the surprise factor of it being a wagon.  Though for fast wagons, Audi is usually what gets in my head.

The CTS coupe is awesome looking, though I'd never want to have to parallel park it in a tight space.  Doesn't look like you can see shit out of it.

From another forum I'm on (with a LOT more people, and the prevailing opinion is that the CTS is going to be a HUGE hit):

You know how you think the Evoque has bad sight lines?

Multiply that by 10, and that's the CTS.

Other comments from German car owners on VW Vortex:

"It makes the E look completely anonymous, and it makes the 5 look like a flaccid, unfocused blob."

"This car takes the crown from the E class as far as looking "teutonic". The refresh on the E has it looking very organic/Japanese. Cadillac's greenhouse combined with the sculpting makes the CTS look like the E class done right."

"Don't kid yourself for a second that I won't seriously consider it when I replace my E60 550i."

"It absolutely destroys everything else in the class, aesthetically. It's stunning whether you look at the details or the whole design - it's the most nearly perfect design I've ever seen out of Cadillac besides maybe the Ciel show car."

"And single handedly America destroys the communist agenda. Bangle surfacing is no longer the future of automotive design. Hurrah. Pronounced, classy, familiar but unique. The eagle motif on the head on view seems planned. I will buy one, and/or make other people buy one."

"I like this a lot. I like the rear, too. The two character lines on the flanks merge together and play off each other nicely. I like that the upper character line makes for a strong flank, and it wraps effortlessly into the LED strips in the tail lights. Those tail lights are a nice nod to tradition without looking retro. I like the sharp crease on the rear of the c-pillar. The exhaust outlets look nice with the chrome strip joining the two of them. The crease keeps the butt from looking to bulbous. They did a really good job on what is usually the hardest part of a car to finish."

"To me it just oozes elegance and luxury. I'm sure I'll catch heat for this, but I think this is Cadillac's E39 - it's a timeless design that people will be admiring for decades."

With tens of thousands of members, the overwhelming majority believe that the CTS is perhaps the best looking sedan on the market, or at least one of the top couple.

I saw a CTS-V Wagon yesterday.  I would easily put up with the shitty interior squeaking all the time to have one of those.

Too bad Mercury isn't around anymore.  Just imagine what they could have done to this with modern LED technology!

I think the current CTS is one of the best looking cars around and it still looks good at the end of its cycle.  My expecations about the third gen were tempered by the early spy shots, especially of the rear.  But this thing looks amazing.  Perhaps a few too many lines on the hood, and the rear is not quite as distinctive as the current car's (but I think this is something we'll need to see on the road).  The LEDs might be a bit much.  The interior, like the ATS's, looks great, and should be a huge improvement over the current car's (which is nowhere as good as the exterior).

It certainly compares well to most of the current competition - the E-Class continues to look like a mess, and I've come to prefer the E60 5 Series over the F10, and the GS is no great looker.  I agree that I actually see some resemblance to the E-Class, but it's like an E Class done right.

I've never driven a CTS or ATS, but if I was in the market for this kind of car, I'd have to give it a try.  After having current 3 and 5 Series as loaner cars in the last year (the 3 just this past weekend), I continue to think BMWs have truly become watered down in the effort to broaden their appeal.  And long term, I think this is harmful, as there will soon be little left to distinguish itself from other brands, which will only help cars like the CTS.  Cadillac may still have an uphill battle with its perceived image, but at least the product is clearly competitive.

I don't really like it. Reminds me too much of the E-class in profile.
