I would only own a Mini that's under warranty. I browsed enough owners forums to know that they don't last.

Yeah, better to get something more reliable.

Real tough call there between the 9-2 and Mini for me.  LOVED my buddy's JCW S.  Fun problem to have!

Yeah, the 9-2X is really, really compelling.  It's the choice my head is saying is the right one, but my heart is screaming Mini.  Considering I followed my heart with the Z4, maybe following my head for the practical car wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.

Actual Subarus hold their value really well--too well.

I mean, look at this:
http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicledetails.xhtml?endYear=2014&zip=19130&sellerTypes=b&transmissionCode=MAN&maxPrice=10000&transmissionCodes=MAN&mmt=%5BSUB%5BIMPWRX%5B%5DLEGACY%5B%5D%5D%5B%5D%5D&modelCode1=IMPWRX&makeCode2=SUB&modelCode2=LEGACY&showcaseOwnerId=294911&makeCode1=SUB&startYear=2003&searchRadius=0&listingId=342747736&listingIndex=2&Log=0

A 9-2X with the same mileage would be like $3,000 to $3,500 cheaper probably.

Rags is right.  I looked at them, but they're still way too expensive.  Nothing falls under 10K.

Out of your options, MINI. But I'd suggest something more practical that complements your Z4 better.

A3 maybe? I know it's a veedub but good car.
3 series/A4 touring with AWD?

I really wanted an A3, but I don't think they're falling into the price range, and I think it's about the same size as the 9-2X.  Also, not that AWD is a necessity, they did never sell it here with AWD and a stick.  And I feel like it's just a different body on my old Jetta in FWD guise.  The 3er and AWD didn't come with a stick in the US as far as I know, but I'll check that out.  The last time I looked at the Audi A4, my budget was around $6000, so I'll have to check them out again with the higher cap.

I don't think that's right.  According to MSN, the WRX sedan weighs 3085 and the wagon weighs 3165.  It clocks the 9-2X in at 3179.  They've been wrong before, but the wagon weighing less than the sedan doesn't make sense to me.

Hmm.  I'll check that out.  E46?

They are all reasonably involving driver's cars. What you need is something totally boring, beyond utilitarian to just plain horrible. How about a Taurus wagon?

I just really like the Accord Sport and its way more practical then the Civic or Cooper.  Besides, youre comparing a small wagon to one of the roomier midsizers; the only added practicality of the Saab will be the boot which will only be applicable in the rare event that RAZA needs to dispose of more then 2 bodies.  Otherwise, the Accord has a more comfortable and roomier cabin, better interior, better fuel economy, and a better hwy cruiser.  But yeah, its way over the limit, im just an Accord fan boy

The Accord isn't bad but there's nothing interesting about it.

Who cares, you buy an Accord because it's good at everything, not because you're expecting to be surprised or excited...? Besides, it's apparently decent fun to drive, which is plenty interesting.

It might not be as much fun to drive as a Mini, but all reviews indicate that it's decent fun to drive.

That said, it's a moot point- it's totally not what Raza's looking for. I vote 9-2x aero
