U-Haul

I rented a 14ft box truck on Saturday. I never looked under the hood (it was a frantic day) but, unlike the Econoline cargo van I'd rented the previous weekend, it did not feel or sound like a V8: had a dieselish idle, and what sounded like a turbo when accelerating.  Anyone know if I was imagining this, or is Ford selling these chassis with the Ecoboost V6?

You didn't peek under the bonnet?

Strictly a guess but I'd say no.  U-Haul isn't mentioning it on their website if they are.  I'd think that would be a bragging point for them.

Speed_Racer

Considering its UHaul, I'd guess that something was broken/needing repair.

Could have been the V10...

FlatBlackCaddy

it was probably a 4.6 truck motor, my guess is the "dieselish" sound and difference in feel was from either a spark plug that blew out of the head or a busted rod knocking around in the bottom end.

Morris Minor

Yup. It was not exactly well-maintained. Next time around I'll try Budget, or Penske, or Enterprise, or someone.

Very likely.  I was looking at some used 14' and 17' former U-haul box vans for sale on the web (on Uhaul's website) and they were fitted with the 6.8L V10.
