Wow, the interior of that Mustang just screams QUALITY!

Back in the 1980s, when I was in high school, a friend's sister had one of these.  It was a 1979 model with the thundering 2.3 litre four cylinder and power-sapping automatic.  Even though it was just a few years old at the time, the damn thing was already falling apart.  I rode in it a few times and even way back then I remember thinking it was utter garbage.

At least yours has a V8 with some performance mods and a five speed.  Just don't expect European levels of quality or refinement.  Come to think of it, don't even expect Chinese levels of quality and refinement!

Oh, BTW, congrats, I think?

There's a number of people in my city that have some pristine examples of mid 80's Mustangs. It surprises me just how much money and love are dumped into some of the Mustangs of that generation.

My guess is that people who remembered the Mustang II remember the Fox much more fondly than those of us who came into a world when the Mustang of the hour was the Fox.

Same here.

About 10 years ago, I remember cruising around with friends in a pretty rough '85 2.3L 4-cylinder Mustang. Every third stoplight and the engine would stumble, stumble and then eventually stall. The speakers on (notice I say on and not in) the dash were some sort of hack job apparently done with a jigsaw. It did introduce me to the joys of wedging myself in the back seat and sitting side-saddle, 'cause there was no other way to fit my 6' tall self in otherwise.

The driver did manage to get the car mounted up on a gas station island one time, much to our amusement. Don't know how she did it. Fun times.

When new that car didn't even have 200 hp, but this car has a crate 302 with a Crane camshaft, long tube headers, etc and will likely be putting down 300+ hp.  You WILL want suspension mods.

280Z Turbo

Oh Ford...you didn't even try to make the interior interesting.

"Well, here's the dashboard. It holds up the gauges and the radio. What else do you want?"

Looks good. If the deal isn't done yet I'd strongly suggest looking at the latter years of the Fox body and being wary of "retrofits." Even outside the risk of an "upgraded" engine and 5 sp M/T the early Fox bodies were a rough, especially the interior.

IMO, I'd go for an '89 at the earliest. This is when Ford first supplied EFI with mass/air and if memory serves, a full roller valve train. Either way, things got much much better in '89. I'll even throw out the wildcard that is the notch back. IMO this would be a better buy:

I'm sure shipping from Alabama to Norway won't change the total cost of the deal at all.
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

It probably will; probably be cheaper than shipping from Spokane.

The '89-'93 LX 5.0 notchback is far and away my favourite Fox body.  It also happens to be the best and fastest Fox body.  The GT was heavier with the extra bodykit and liftback design.

And Mobile has a large international port as well.

Just fly to the US and drive it back, Cuba style.  So much cheaper.

I don't care about anything about Mustangs aside from the fact that from that generation on up, they have always had the beeeeesssst sounding V8s.

I completely agree. I think it comes down to firing order and head design. Most all small block domestic V8s - Mopar, Chevy, Pontiac, Buick, Olds - had Siamesed exhaust ports and 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 firing order. The Ford 302 had a different firing order and equally spaced exhaust ports.

You got to look at this in a Euro context. This car will be about as exotic as a Fuego Turbo stateside. I'm sure the interior will be as good as the Ranchero - and most other cars from that era.

Yeah, that'll be interesting to find out. It's a good thing it looks stock, though. Norwegian DMV will only register stock cars, so it will have to appear that way.

I think the interior looks fine. I was worried the red would be too much, but I'm warming up to it.

Can't . Car needs to be 30 y.o. Also, i much prefer the front clip and the uncluttered design over later models. (and fastback over notchback.) It had to be either this ('82 GT), or a '79 GT/pace car or possibly an early Capri 5.0.

Cars are shipped form both the east and west coast. It is the inland freight which is expensive, so as close as possible to the coasts is preferred.

Mine as well. I grew up with several friends that all owned that era of Stang.

Hey Per, let me know if you want an Edelbrock strip kit, if they're hard to find over there. I have a set I bought for the past carb on the Dodge that I never ended up keeping in use.
