I kinda fail to see what this offers over an FRS/BRZ other than gas mileage.

I've gotta say, the latest Beetle in black with the retro wheels is a sharp car.  It's amazing how a little subtle change in the roofline made the car go from bubbly, girly cartoon car to something quite a bit more mature and "gender neutral".

Agreed.

this car doesn't deserve to be in the FAST LANE

what happened is this.  i liked the way this car looked.  it felt right.  and i traded highway on ramp/off ramp hijinks that a sports car would give me for the way this car looked.  and diesel is cool.  and 600 mile range is cool.  and i got a manual.  that by itself...makes this a midlife crisis car.  for me anyways.

Definitely not the car I would have chosen, but it looks sharp. Enjoy it!

I don't think I've seen a black one with the old school wheels. Looks really nice!

Would also be a good candidate for some Von Dutch pinstripes...

Agreed. In red.

I don't get it.  I was joking when I predicted Beetle.

Nah. Something inside you just knew. I know I did.

I am glad you went the Diesel route, Veeman. That new diesel engine is miles ahead of it's predecessors.

final gratuitous shots.  the lighting was better in the morning without glare.

Nice car, I think the beetle redesign is 10X better looking than the previous. As someone stated, it's amazing that a little roof line change brings so much style and classiness to the beetle design. Love the retro wheels too.
