Top ranked large car.  Outscoring the A6 and Lexus LS?! 

It's not april 1st.  This is not a joke.  They've liked some cars from GM and Ford and recently Chrysler but they rarely outright win a category.  I always think their car reviews are just O.K. anyways.  But Wow.  Especially with the Malibu debacle the GM brass have got to be at some bar right now getting giddy.

consumer reports has biases no doubt.  And they've screwed over car companies like the suzuki samurai in the past.  But they don't take any money. 

They're the only reviewer I have heard of that actually buys all of the cars they test.  And they won't let any company ever mention their name in an advertisement. 

You'll see an ad in short order by GM stating, "a leading consumer magazine rated the Impala as the best large car beating cars costing over 20 thousand more"

Another case of the democratization of luxury. If they had options like full leather/suede interiors, adaptive cruise control, turning headlights etc on mainstream cars... I'm not sure how, objectively, luxury cars could justify themselves. There will always be a market for them, but it is shrinking.

I'd be curious to see how this Impala LTZ stacks up against the XTS.

I saw one on display at a car show a couple of weeks ago.  I didn't spend a lot of time looking it over, but my initial impression is that the car looks pretty darn good in the flesh.

....what? I think the interior is gorgeous! And that's not GM bias, I think the interior is objectively excellent. Beats the brakes off the Taurus, and better than the Avalon, too.



I've driven a few - I think they're nice cars. Not keen on the 6AT that GM uses (runs to 6th far too quickly) but otherwise it's a wonderful car.
