And yet nobody complains about it when it's under the hood of a CTS.

The V6 in the Catera and that in the CTS are completely unrelated.  For starters, one is a 54 degree V and the other is 60...

The 2003-04 CTS used the 3.2 litre version of the 54 degree Opel V6.

Average fuel consumption is at an indicated 32.5 right now. It was 30.3 yesterday.  My mom doesn't drive too quickly, and mainly highway, so I'll expect an average MPG of 35-37.

TRUTH.

I specifically sought out the 3.6 for this exact reason.

That's not nearly as good as I had imagined.  I thought diesels got like 40+ usually?

I mean, it usually takes a few thousand miles for a gas engine to settle.  I got my best mileage in the Jetta after the 10K mark.

I'd expect the ECU in modern cars needs a several drive cycles before it has itself all sorted out.

They were manufactured back in the era when Opels/Vauxhalls were pretty shitty cars by European standards but kinda sophisticated/sporty by American car standards.

95% or more of the jetta wagons I see are TDIs.  It's rare to see a gas version.

Really? That's surprising given that it's the United States....diesel seems to be getting more popular (slowly but surely). I'd certainly be open to perhaps getting a diesel in the future.

Nice ride Clay! Sounds like a good fit.

You need to also bear in mind that wagons are also very uncommon in the US.  Not many companies offer them and those that do don't sell a lot of them.  What's more interesting is that, anecdotally, wagon buyers and diesel buyers seem cut from the same cloth.

People love SUVs (essentially the same shape as a wagon), but they won't drive wagons.  Most CUVs these days are just tall wagons, but as long as they aren't called wagons, people seem to eat them up.

I keep suggesting 90s Accord wagon as a decent gas-saver over the Tribute but waifu just does not want to drive down with everyone else. The seating position alone is what a lot of people are just stuck steadfast to.

People are hung up on the looks and not so much on the practicality or driving dynamics. Wagons act more like cars do, but SUVs = perceived manliness. But with less space, worse mileage and handling. On average, of course.

I felt uncomfortable going from the VW B5.5 Passat to the LR2 but within a few days, I loved it. It now feels weird whenever I drive my dad's '02 A6, being so close to the ground. But if I went back, I'd probably get used to that too.

My girlfriend's Jeep Commander feels just about right.

Ahhh, marketing. My mom's Tiguan is really just a modified Golf/Scirocco (PQ35). But while she'd drop a nice amount of coin on a loaded Tiggy "SUV," you'd never catch her dead in a Golf in a million years.

This is a superb car. We paid a hair over $22000 for it. I saw the paperwork. Leftover 2013...not a bad deal for this car.
