This isn't a sports car. The front and rear bumpers look like something Pontiac would make.

Anyway, sports cars only have half doors with zippered plastic windows.

So what, we are suppose to have a M product that looks boring instead of aggresive?   No wonder new cars continue to suck more and more
Naw, we should have an M product that looks good. The last M3 sedan looked great. Understated but perfectly proportioned and detailed. This one is a little off with proportions and way off with some of the details.

I not anal about the definition on sports car as some. But there has never been a 4 door sports car and there never will be.

The bumpers are ugly dude. No need to be hyperbolic.

Mods, can we move this to mainstreamers?

It's the fast lane. Not the sports car lane.
And this car will be fast, with ugly bumpers.

SJ_GTI

Think it looks good. Wonder if that shade of blue will be on the production car?

Don't plan on buying another car for ~4-5 years, but the M3 will probably be one of the cars under consideration.

Well thank you for your opinion.  Now recall that your opinion is also similar to your asshole - everyone has one and im not sure you want to claim its the biggest of all

How dare some people not pull out their dicks and ejaculate at the thought of the BMW M3. The M3 is a flawless design from a flawless manufacture.

I hate the front bumper on my car. Just because someone isn't a fan of something in no way means you hate the whole car.

The point is M3s have never been sleepers.  They have always been - and should always be - a super aggressive looking and performing 3er.  Thats exactly what it is, and exactly what everyone thought it would look like, and exactly what their target audience wanted.

If you want a boring looking sleeper, you dont buy an a M3... Simple enough.

I'm not sure I'd consider the E30 or E36 M3s to be "super aggressive looking".

Most of the M3's I can think of don't look like a 19 year old civic owner put bumpers on them.

Or the E9x. Can't remember any M3 having a garish Predator face either. E36 & E9x pretty much looked exactly like the regular 3 series with big wheels, not sure what this aggressive stuff is about. Generally speaking ///M cars have only recently become very aggressive looking, starting with the E60 M5.

E46 and E9x got the power bulge in the hood, but the front fascia wasn't radical.  The differences in the fascia were like those between a regular Golf and a GTI.

Not sure where you are getting that. They have always been rather subdued.

Front and rear wheel openings are a little bigger too.

It looks very nice. I've seen a few prototypes driving around here, but I could never manage a shot.

I think the car is likely pretty awesome, and I would probably love it if I drove it.  I just really hate that front bumper.  It looks like something a teenager would put on a 320i.

Exactly.

Yup... wider fenders, lowered suspension, wider tires, buldging hoods, and more aggreseive bumpers.  Completely subdued.

You can look at an e46 or e36 in the present day and say "hey they arent all that aggreseive"... But then your forgetting what cars of their era looked like and realize in their day they were drooled over, were considered pretty aggressive, and drove many trends.  10 years from now you can look at the current m3 and say " meh, it was boringly styles".

I actually don't think that the fenders on the E9x are any more flared than the non-M models.  I'd say the same of the E36.  To be honest, I'd have a hard time picking out an E36 M from non M at a glance.  E46 was probably the most noticeably more aggressive model when compared to the standard car.  The new M looks like the front fascia came from one of those cheesy Shogun body kits that were all the rage 10-15 years ago.

The E36 M3 had the same exact body as the regular car. Only the bumpers and wheels differed.

Aggression isn't the problem. The ugliness of the front bumper is.

Maybe you should research for 30 sec on the e90 m3 and fix your post.  A regular e36 had grey plastic bumpers and looked pretty bland.

With the exception of the area above the air intakes on the front bumper, the new bumper is pretty close to identical as the current m sport bumper that all the bmw owners love.
