For another poor attempt on a all new car how about the new Corolla?  The body is all new but everything under it is really old.  Pretty much the same engine lineup, still uses a 4 speed auto, and still comes with rear drums.  1980 called and they want their technology back.  Yeah it's cheap but that's about the only good thing about it.

Have you driven one?

- 4AT is only on the super base "L" grade, and they won't be making or selling many

- the 1.8L is hardly old, introduced in 2007 and still have competitive HP and MPG ratings. And the 1.8L in the "eco" model, is all new IIRC

- It actually drives nicely; it's definitely designed for comfort, but it's bigger with better MPG with an actually really nice interior.

- Steering is actually pretty good; something the old car lacked.

- I am SO tired of people complaining about drum brakes (and torsion beams) on a front-heavy, FWD compact car. Literally every car in the class, save for the Mazda 3 (which is overrated) uses rear drums. Cruze only gets disc brakes on the Diesel model, which is hella heavy.

The new Corolla is far from "poor". It's honestly a better car than the Elantra and Civic.

If you ask me, it isn't a bad looking car either. I like it

Nobody is. I don't think I ever saw one, thank goodness. Toyota should have taken the FR-S, and let Scion die a quick death.

I've seen a handful of tCs. I was scarcely aware they even made the tC anymore until I saw a blurb on the internet about the 2014 refresh.

I agree that the FR-S should be a Toyota and Scion done away with entirely. It's a totally pointless brand, a failure in this country.

It isn't much of a success here, either. When they botched the 2nd gen xB and other automakers started making subcompacts worth a damn, Scion kind of has shriveled up and died.

Also, there's a dearth of compact coupes out there.

Because nobody buys them.

Hey, I just said there is none. There's the Civic coupe, Elantra Coupe and that's about it, I think.

Forte Koup and I'd consider the Veloster a coupe.

Especially because the tC, like the Veloster, is a hatchback.
