This is a stupid, stupid idea.

You need to build equity, not waste it.

You make a good point, but given his age and the thread specifies 5th car, we won't change his mind with the advice.

2008 Hyundai Tiburon GS  - $9,990

Actually, this was an entertaining little ride. I've warmed up to this car company quite a bit lately I admit, but for the money, some of their cars are pretty decent.

You're my age.  We're getting old.  Plus, now that you're married, your life expectancy has gone way down, since you're more likely to be poisoned by your wife.

It's a fun car, and it's still on the "list". Most other 80's cars were probably just as crappy as the Omni. The Omni is a great base, and fairly obscure

Obscure for a reason. My dad tells me stories of his new Omni rusting in place while he was out on active duty.

It wasn't so obscure back in the day.  The Omni/Horizon twins were EVERYWHERE back in the 1980s.  And then, they suddenly all seemed to vanish in 1993.  October, I think it was.  One minute you were tripping over them and the next they were all gone.  Funny how that happens!

You can find parts cheaper than official BMW parts. But still a lot more expensive than a Yaris.

What you really need a Chevy or Ford truck. Junkyard parts galore.

He can't ride a panther to work.  Trust me, I've tried.  You can never get them to stop when you want them to.

Yaris is probably the most viable idea. My friend with the xB put his cheapie grippy summer tires on my car just so he could make me a "believer" and I am now a believer. With stiffer springs and a sway bar, this thing will corner on rails.
