Yep, it's another UK-based car restoration series.  Except this one doesn't worry about anything as trivial as budgets or turning a profit.  As the title suggests, these restorations are lavished upon these iconic of heaps strictly for the love of these cars.

The first episode starts with a true rally legend.

Episode 1:  Ford Escort Mexico.

Watched about half of it so far.  Great show.  It presents a piece of motoring history that any enthusiast would love to see.  It ties into so much of the racing history of that era.

Even though they spent an hour talking about an interesting car that I didn't know much about, I don't really feel like I learned anything.

The only thing you need to know is this car was a million times better than the POS Pinto which Ford excreted out its ass and dumped onto American customers.

Thanks, Ford!  :shakesfist:

See, that's really boring information. I know that European cars are always better by the sheer virtue of being from Europe. ;)

It was just a combination of old farts talking about the good old days and, uh, oh. They hardly went into any detail about the restoration, which, other than about five minutes of informative talking about the history of the car, was the only interesting part.

Well, if you'd rather have a car with a gas tank that exploded on impact, that's your business!

Remember, I had a Pinto, so I know how shit they really were.

You're right about the lack of info about the restoration, though.  Personally, I could do without the history lesson considering I already know the history, anyway.  However, I'm sure there are viewers out there who aren't mega-nerds like us and need some schooling about the car's background.

My attitude is to sit back, have a drink and enjoy shows like this as light entertainment not to be taken too seriously.  And besides, a cool old car that would have probably been scrapped gets a new lease of life it wouldn't have had otherwise.  That alone makes this show worth it.

Looks interesting & will definitely watch. But I don't consider the Triumph Stag to be a great British car; it was a bit of a dog and, although it was assembled in Britain, I don't really think of the DeLorean as British.
