Looks nice. I love wagons so my interest is already piqued. But a 7 yr old ( practically 8 ) entry level luxury car as a DD? It would give me some pause. My perspective may be skewed with living in harsher conditions though.. so wear and tear factor may not be the same.

That's my concern too.  328's aren't all that complex (at least, when compared to 335i's), and I've got the BRZ too, so I could survive some repairs and down time to it.  My buddy can do a full engine or transmission swap in a matter of hours too, so I've got a ton of resources to help if needed.

But I primarily need this car for road trips.  I'm going to see if I can test drive it.  Lowered on 18x9.5 wheels, I'm a bit worried it'll be too stiff for long journeys.  I did 16+ hours in a weekend in the BRZ a few weeks ago and it wasn't bad, but I'd prefer something softer.

There's a local Genesis R-spec I've got my eye on too.  2012, dark gray, with 18k miles on it.  It's certified pre-owned too, so that means 10 year, 100k mile powertrain warranty.  If I can sell the Element for a grand less than I paid, and get that for $27k-$28k, that'd be a hard scenario to turn down.

Spending <$14k on this BMW though would make the possibility of supercharging the BRZ a lot more feasible

I like the 3-series wagon idea but not lowered or with 113k miles.

I would end up lowering it probably anyways

The mileage is a concern.  6-speed E91 wagons are like unicorns though.  Trying to find one is tough.

My 2006 Z4 has been my daily driver for the last year and a half.  I'm sure the 328xi is better suited to the life than my car is.

Any idea where the miles came from? If it's a lot of highway miles, 113k isn't too bad.

Minpin

I'm not a fan of buying and selling cars often. Everyone told you buying the element was a stupid idea, and here you are. If it were me I would keep what I have, maybe sell the element if you really don't use it, and quit blowing money on knee jerk purchases.

But that's just me.

Drive that 328xi and if it checks out after the test drive, get it.

Contrary to CarSpinReality, BMWs are not made of jelly. And this one has had the cooling system already done. E90s are pretty reliable, fun to drive and this is the N/A 6 which will do fine.

Would you purchase a car with over 100k miles? I personally would not.

I wouldn't buy a car w/ 100k+ miles especially if I wanted to use it as a dd.  Not a knock on BMW, goes for any car.

I would be careful about a car with those miles. It would have to be bought from an enthusiast. For example, from a fellow BMW Club member.

In this case, it seems that the current owner is an enthusiast and has taken good care of the car. After a test drive and proper inspection I'd make the call.

I, however, would also budget 2-3K for unexpected repairs that might come up.

I bought a car with 125,000 miles and currently have 160,000.  Of course, it's just a fancy Camry.

AutobahnSHO

I've bought only one car with less than 100k miles.

Yes, schedule some $$ for maintenance, yes inspect it carefully, but nothing wrong with a 100+ car.

It's 50% as much as an R-spec, plenty of money to take care of it.

Plus he's delusional with the asking price (way above KBB).

KBB is like $12k.

100K is not bad. Wifey's Volkswagen has that.... aside from a radiator fan and a rogue sunroof its been pretty problem free. Once it hits 150 its gone. My car has damn near 180K, still running great too. 1 owner with a clean Carfax and all dealer done maintenance. I wouldn't be scared of a car with miles that was well maintained, cars are pretty robust.

A car with 100K+ from a rust belt state is not the same as a car with 100K+ that spent its life in warmer climates.

I don't think the Dayton area is anywhere near as bad as NY.

Or even Cleveland.

Fair point... there has always been a marked difference between cars I bought from NY and cars I bought elsewhere. Compared to my last Accord (worst auto purchase ever) these cars feel brand new
