I love making wiring harnesses. How can I convince you that I'm not kidding.

Hmm ... it would have to be an exorbitant sum of said money. On top of my regular labor rate I will have to charge for travel expenses, hotel, meals, a standard 35% markup on materials, and dog sitting.

In my experience, a VIN check is required for a car with an out of state title, but I've never heard of actually checking to see if the car was in the state or not. I don't think I had to prove that when, IIRC, I had an OR license and bought cars in WA, but I might have got a WA license early in that learning experience.

Nice. I am getting my winter tires put on this Friday. Once they are on I will be praying for a good snowstorm.

Ok so after some more extensive research the likelihood I'll ever be able to register the car in NY after the swap is essentially 0% due to having to pass the plug test.  I'm still going to do the swap, but at this point I may end up getting the 10 day temp NY inspection, driving it down to Florida, signing it over to my mom, and registering it in Florida.

Seems easy enough right?

I'll get a PO box

Or I'll give you the yearly cost of NY Reg + inspection to use your address

Michigan is the same...at least around here.  I've never had to prove a thing at the DMV.  Title in hand, they'll do it.  Fuck going outside.

They don't check here either but you have 10 days to get it inspected

Lucky. You have to smog the car here in CA within 30 days of buying it, unless the seller smogged it within 90 days of selling it (amount of time could be the other way around, don't remember).

Thankfully no such thing with motorcycles. Just walk in with the title, pay the $$$ and leave. :praise:

If your talking about a OBD2 emissions test - all you need to do to pass the test is disable the emissions PIDs... I passed emissions testing for years without a catalytic converter

Won't that trigger the CEL? Don't be tests have to be run without it lit?
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

Are there individual bulbs in most clusters these days? Does the test involve plugging into the OBD port and scanning for codes?

I really don't know, I live in Michigan. We haven't had emissions tests since before OBD2 was a thing.

So the OBD2 emissions testing just scans the system for the OBD readiness flag (basically means you went more then a few drive cycles since you reset the ECU) and for emissions related CELs.  It in no way shape or form actually looks at operating data to see if the car is running correctly and the emission systems are functioning.

If you have an OBD2 programmer, all you need to do is disable a couple OBD2 flags so you don't have any active CELs and voila you passed emissions testing.

Interesting.  I don't have a programmer, now would I know where to get one since tampering with Emissions equipment is a Federal offense.

Not that I wouldn't possibly maybe do it

If you disabled the PIDs would that effect the "readiness"?

Readiness is determined by drive cycles.  I'm pretty sure Cobb has programmers and software available for pretty much all lesbian brand automobiles...
