FWD with snow tires isn't tea bag.  I'll still never understand why people south of the 45th parallel even bother with snow tires, but that's beside the point.

Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

I got by with FWD on all season tires for 8 years. Had some close calls, but no incidents. It's not ideal, but it's doable.

"My" GT4 is up in Austin's COTA this weekend but I couldn't make it this year. Too tied up with activities moving to the new house/city and all. Also, I have no US VISA. Still waiting for it to get sent from the embassy.

My 2 partners will be there enjoying it.

But what will real people ooh and ahh over in the next commercial?  "Oh my god, this car sitting on this $40 million dollar estate in a room where there's a 90 inch 5K TV that comes out of the ceiling only costs $24,000?  The toilet I used here doesn't even cost that little--plus instead of water in the bidet, it's Cristal, so now my taste feels all tingly and luxurious!"

So forever, then?

Look, if we surround a thing with expensive things, the thing looks expensive.  It's such a cheap trick; it's lower on the scale than pulling a coin out of someone's ear.

True enough.  I saw a new Malibu the other day and initially thought it was an Impala.  Then I thought "JFC, when did Malibus get so big?!"

Peak sedan size is where the Civic class cars are. Ever since the 80s that's been the best selling segment.

To be fair, though, you were alive when they discontinued the Impala the first time.

Isn't the camcord the perennial best seller among cars in the US?

Impala has been discontinued a few times.  First in the mid 80s.  Then they brought it back as the "performance" version of the Caprice for 3 years in the mid 90s before going on another hiatus until 2000 when the name was resurrected to replace the Lumina.

For some reason, the front end reminds me of the face of a dog sticking its head out of a car window that going about 80 miles an hour.

So I drove a bunch of things:

- Couple of Jeep Wranglers while in Hawaii.  Wow, what a hunk of shit.  They're solid off road, but on road they're pretty terrible.  It's like my 4Runner, but with any remotely negative attribute cranked to 11.  I don't get why anyone would buy a new 4-door Wrangler over a 4Runner.  Similar price, similar resale (if not an advantage for the 4Runner), way more practicality, reliability, on road manners in the 4Runner.

- I had an F10 535i M-sport as a rental for a few days.  Great car.  It was way better than I expected.  It's amazing how far this class has come.  Only thing I didn't like was the steering feel really.  But it was really comfortable, fast, ZF gearbox was really good, tech was great.  It needed paddle shifters though (console shifting through 8 gears was a bit tough).

- ND Miata.  I don't fit in the RF, but the soft top...  it was great.  So good.
