I'm officially old.  This is helping, but creates a whole new set of problems

Back feels better with this stupid pad, so it helps there a bit, but now it shifts me so far forward in the seat, the bottom is even shorter.  Most of my thighs aren't on seat now.  I'm totally out of the bolsters too, so I'm sliding all over the place. I've never been too comfortable in the car, but now I have one minor back flair up, and it just keeps getting worse being stuck there for 2 hours a day.

I don't think the Mazda 3 is the answer, as much as I wanted it to be.  It's too cramped to be the "practical" vehicle in the garage.

If I can get in an Outback without losing my ass, I'm going to do it.  Going to try a few more things before totally giving up though.

Honestly, my Fiesta is less cramped up front than a Focus, Fusion, Mazda 3, and CX3.

Give it a ~week, the cushion will wear in I bet.  Or try to find a thinner/different one.  I've seen all kinds of random cushion things in people's cars.  Maybe even just a nice squishy throw pillow might help.

I'm going to be re-upholstering the seats in the wagon this winter, and will be fitting both aftermarket seat heaters and inflatable lumbar bolsters in them. I, too, am getting old.
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

No, I kept it. I did get a Land Cruiser thing. Two actually, but I burnt the first one up.

The cushion wasn't working in the car.

It's not that the seats are too soft.  It's a shape and support issue.  Adding more jello padding isn't helping.

Buying a new office chair for work to one I know is the next step.

Ultimately, this is my body being sedentary for too long every day.  Everything I was sitting and sleeping on are just soft mush.  I'm not nearly as active as I used to be.  I spend like 20+ hours either laying down or sitting, none of which were supportive at all.  I guess I need to change all of that.

Yup, my back pain didn't go away until I became more active. Not like lifting crazy weight or anything, but I took frequent walk breaks, took up jogging and then running, then rollerblading, then skiing... Just keeping the body busy. It worked.

When I'm laying in bed in the morning I like to do some basic stretches before I get up. Gets the blood movin, wakes me up, and loosens things up after sleep.

MrH, have you ever tried yoga?

Yeah. I kind of like it too.  I think if I just got back to my old level of activity, I'd be fine.  I just don't have time until school is over

Anyways, the best Subaru dealer around here offered $1000 over invoice for an Outback.  I can get invoice pricing starting in January.  I'll swing by and get a trade in value on the Accord and decide if I want to pull the trigger or not.

If I get over $22k for the Accord, I'm probably in.  If not, I'll hold off and get requoted in January.

I believe military and government employees returning after being stationed abroad may import their personal vehicles without having to meet the 25 year rule provided it meets all DOT and emissions standards or they go through an importer.

I don't think this car qualifies.

Also this isn't the first "illegal" import I've seen in Columbus lately.

What do mean "qualifies"?  Military personnel on long-term deployment overseas may import their personal vehicle from wherever they were deployed when they return to the US and the 25 year rule does not apply to said imports.

From what I understand, it still has to pass DOT and EPA certification to be imported even if it's military. I don't think this car passes.

Even still, there's a big "problem" with cars coming in the US and getting titles via Florida or (Montana?) because of how their titling process.

If the car doesn't meet DOT or EPA, it may still be brought in if it goes through a licensed importer.

Meh.  Who cares, let the weird foreign cars come on over.  We let people roll around in 100% unsafe rusty shitboxes from the 70s.
