I'm a little unsure about the front plastic piece on the bumper.  It's very BRZ-esque, but even bigger.  Looks like a weird mustache.

Yeah, that's my only problem with the styling. I like the rear wing.

Anyone know if this is a more rear biased AWD system? How does it function under normal driving?
The system can transfer up to 70% to the rear wheels.  What it normally operates at, I don't know.

Comments seem to indicate the driveshaft to the rear is always spinning and it's up to the ecu to determine how much to engage the clutches.

In an Audi world, that's equivalent of a haldex quattro system vs traditional torsen.  However, this seems to be able to send more rear then a typical haldex plus torque vector.

It sort of sounds similar to the setup in the newer gen Range Rover Evoque actually.

Too bad it still has the current Focus' interior which I can't stand.

I wonder how the new Civic Type R will compare with it's new, give or take 300hp turbo 4.

The Golf R looks way too boring in comparison.
Yea thats why I didnt even bother looking at Focuses.

CTR will be interesting if it has AWD. Really hoping they put the 2.0T + SH-AWD + 7DCT in the ILX. I would break my "no AWD" rule for that.

I'm just  hoping it doesn't do something weird like send 10% (or even worse make it FWD) under normal driving. An ideal AWD split for me would be 35/65 or 30/70 under normal conditions with the ability to send 100% to either axle (I think Subaru does this). It doesn't sound like this one will do that, though.

I do find the interior to be the low point of the current focus, frankly it would be a deal breaker for me.

MT Subies are 50/50.  AT Subies are front biased (80/20 I think)

Actually, the CVT is 60/40, the 5AT is 45/55 and the manuals are 50/50.

I always thought the STI was 40/60 or 35/65 for some reason. Huh.

Edit: I think the DCCD in the STI is 40/60 or something close to that.

I dont think the base split matters. As long as it can get traction to where you need it when you need it without making a big fuss it should be fine. Id rather have it save gas not sending traction to the rear wheels until the front wheels have no grip... or have it allow me to choose how it splits power.

If they have an active rear diff this thing will rip in corners.

Yeah, I don't like that.  I don't see a reason for it.

Dccd can be anywhere from 50:50 to 33:67 or something like that.  The 05 sti had the largest spread afaik

Yeah, I'm thinking back to the old 4AT Foresters and Imprezas, which were 80/20 until like 2009 or 2010.  Then they shifted to 60/40 and the CVTs are 60/40.

As long as there's a spoiler delete option I'd be in for one. Any rumors on price point?

I don't mind the interior in my Focus. Yeah it's a little busy, but it's not ugly and the quality is good. The steering wheel, switchgear, and ergonomics are excellent.

That center console just kills me. I couldn't do it. Rest of the interior is not that bad TBH. But the center console. It was the same story with the MK1.

Ever driven one? It's a nice interior.

By center console, do you mean the console between the seats, or like the center stack on the dash?

I'd be cool with it all if it wasn't for the ford sync system I think.

No issues with Sync, my phone works great with it. Do you mean MyTouch? That's on the Titanium and ST models... my car (SE) doesn't have it.

I love it. Yes, it's a bit immature, but if I want a conservative looking fun hatch, there's the GTI or Golf R.

I wonder if they got the extra power from the 2.3 by giving it some more top end or if it still has the power band of a diesel...

This is from the sh-awd press release in 2004.  Sound familiar?
In hard cornering, up to 70 percent of available torque goes to the rear wheels for enhanced chassis balance
Up to 100 percent of this torque can be applied to the outside rear wheel if the situation dictates

Definitely an easy choice for northerners. This car would be a riot in the winter, while the Mustang is stored in the garage.

Nah.

Yeh. All I need is this car and a set of skinny winters on steelies. With a Mustang, I'll still need a winter car.
