So I'm going to Disney World next week with my girlfriend and her family.  She got me a gift certificate to this exotic car driving event.  Basically do a few laps in an exotic.

I've got $200 to this place, but I can throw in more of my own money too.  I'm leaning towards doing double the laps in something less exotic like an R8 or GTR.  Looking for best experience per dollar.

Thoughts?

Do more laps in the Porsche 997.

Have you driven a Ferrari before? I feel like that will be the most different and special.

I did this track two years ago in the GT-R.  I doubled my laps for less than what the Ferrari cost for the minimum laps, and I'm really glad I did because even after 10 laps you're just starting to get the feel for the car and the track.  The guys that did 6 laps in the Ferrari said it was awesome but way too short.  One guy in my class drove every single car.  One thing to keep in mind, headroom in the GT-R, Lambo, and Ferrari is really tight with a helmet if you're 6' tall.  In fact, I couldn't fit in the Gallardo without practically laying down.

Raza

Go for the Ferrari just because then you can actually have the experience of driving a Ferrari. You can always find drives like these with GT-Rs and the like on Groupon or LivingSocial. But go for the most exotic the first time.

Maybe, like me, you'll also find modern Ferraris just don't feel that special. But maybe I'm alone in that.

Personally, on the list, the one I'd most like to drive is the GT-R. Seeing (and hearing) the Gallardos at my track day, they just didn't seem that impressive.

The thing I liked about the GT-R is the same thing I didn't like about the GT-R.  It feels like a 550 hp version of my G37.  I liked it because I like my G37 and it has a more "livable" feel about it, but I didn't like that at the same time because it felt too much like a normal car and not enough like a supercar...although it performs like one and the cornering grip and braking will blow your mind.

MexicoCityM3

I'd take the Scud over the 458. More track focused and simply more special.

I've driven the 911S. It's slightly better than my cars. A Ferrari is another level of experience entirely.

Have fun at WDW.  We just got back from 5 days at the Polynesian Resort.     The trip is what prompted my mileage thread.

I have no idea what would be the most fun, You'll probably be satisfied with any of them.

With that said, I'd change my vote from 458 to 430 Scud. I just voted for 458 since it was the newest Ferrari.

But the 458 is supposed to be miles better than the 430, even the scuderia, right?

Also, my friend's dad is trying to buy a F430 Scuderia.  If that happens, I'll be able to drive one for free

I was kind of leaning doing double the amount of laps in a 911.  I'm looking hard at maybe getting a 997 in a few years, so this is basically a test drive on a track.

Much as I hate being the Scrooge, I always feel like things like this are a bit tourist trapish, with big emphasis on the up-sell and you're only getting a few minutes of driving anyway.  I'd just drive the 911 she already paid for, enjoy it and thank her for the gift. I wouldn't pour another 200 bucks into it.  Save your money for a driving school or something where there'll be enough track time to actually enjoy it + learn something.

I disagree.  Double the laps.  The standard 6 laps goes by way too fast.

A good HDPE track day (or even weekend) goes for about $200-300 and you get so much more track time and learn far more.

I don't think I've ever seen one of these exotic track day things carry manual equipped cars.  Does anyone do them?

Disney World with the parents, huh? It was nice knowing you MrH...

Assuming you don't blow your brains out before the event, I'd go with the Lambo or Ferrari just for the novelty factor.

Meh. Just going to be eating and drinking like a king for a week. It's going more laying by the pool boozing it up and golf than kicking it with Mickey. Her family is fun. We're staying in this place.

I'm just paying air fare and park tickets. Can't pass up that kind of deal.

Scud is rawer - thus better for this kind of thing. It's not a mountain drive.

The Spin is too rational. Spend $1,000, do many laps on the Scud. It will be nothing like driving your friend's dad car (if he gets it) on the street later.

Ouch, didn't catch the parents part.

I'm not a big Disney or Disney resorts person, but my brother always stays at the grand Floridian and it's pretty nice. Victoria and Alberts restaurant there is quite pricey, but worth going to once IMO.
