Again, Progressive didn't differentiate between the Si and the regular Civic four door when I quoted it.

Geico also didn't but that may not be true when it comes to actually creating the policy.

It's a nice and fun car, but I'm having a hard time finding one that doesn't have a billion miles - (at least, lower than 105K)

105K is break-in for a Honda.

Strong contenders

Ford Fiesta - interior is a bit tight, but it rides like a big car. It also comes with a lot of options.

Mazda 2 - it's noisier than the Fiesta, but more fun. But rust bothers me; has Mazda gotten that fixed?

Ford Focus (2012+) - I like my loaner a lot.

Anything else I should keep an eye for?

All excellent choices.

There's more sub-$10K Mazda 2s out there than you can shake a stick at.  Very good little car for the money.

Believe it or not, 2014 Nissan Versa Notes are starting to fall into this price bracket, too.

Versa notes are garbage, and a manual comes with zero options.

Yeah, the cabin looks like it has been made from recycled milk jugs but, on the plus side, it's one of the roomiest cars in its class.

Think of it as a Honda Fit built on the cheap and you won't be too far off.

I've driven one. The manual is so bad, it feels like if you drive any sort of sportily it'll break into pieces. I'm ok with the interior, but manual cars come with manual locks and manual Windows. I don't think I can do a base model again.

cawimmer430

It's not a 4-door, but you can get it with an M/T, it gets good gas mileage and you can drift with it!

I can understand not wanting the same Yaris you've had already.

But what about a newer Yaris?

They did add the SE version, though, with a better suspension and shifter. It was overpriced when new, but maybe there's a used deal.

In order to get a 5-door and 5-speed, I have to search for an SE model

Also, the car drives identically to mine. A great deal of parts are interchangable. It also has the same vices, because the 1NZ is old and the 5MT needs more gears.

I wonder if you'll see a Suzuki Kizashi -- I happened upon one with a stickshift just now while browsing D.C. listings. They're really solid cars; they just got kind of lost in the market when Suzuki marketed it as a midsize and let it get by with midsize-level gas mileage, all while it was sized and priced closer to a compact.

Sounds like a Mazda 2 or a Ford Fiesta are ticking all the boxes for you.  They share a platform, and therefore many of the same qualities.

I'm not ruling it out, but part of the idea of this car replacement is to get something newer and lower miles. I also can't find an SI sedan that I'd be comfortable buying; they all look driven hard or modded, and have more miles than all of the other cars Im looking at.

You need to find a Mugen sedan.

I'd consider the W202 and the original W203 to be worse. The facelifted '203 models were actually very good and vastly improved.

also, I have more money - I make more, and I need a 2nd set of doors.

Seriously - didn't ask for financial advice here.

Seriously - the payment I'd be looking at would be less than $130, and closer to $85-110 a month, with insurance bein equally priced. A lot of you guys spend that on a nice meal every week or so.

Stop trying to say I'd be paying an obscene amount of money, with no budgeting, or that I haven't taken into any consideration of how I'd afford this or what the hell im doing.

I can sell the Yaris now while the car still has value, because the car's value is dropping the more I drive it, and I still don't have as flexible of a vehicle as I need, and things on the car are starting to show their age. I can start pouring money into the car to keep it on the road, or I can sell it now while it still has value,  get $$ from it, and put that towards a car that suits my needs better and is more comfortable. (And better on gas, slightly)

Why? Because BMW and Driver didn't like it? Because it wasn't as dynamic as the BMW 3er?

Have you ever driven one? I have driven many models of the W203, including the terrible original models and the vastly improved facelifted models. The quality and dynamic difference between them is like night and day. I'd never consider the W203 a sporty car, but it could be driven in a sporty manner and after the facelift was capable enough in that department. Then again most people shopping for a C-Class weren't interested in backroad blasting... that's what the C32 AMG and C55 AMG were for.
