Many US states don't allow front window tint by law, so manufacturers often don't bother putting any tinted glass in the fronts and leave it up to the customer.

Yeah that's true.  Most states don't enforce as long as the driver is still visible and you're not driving a car with a wing and fart can muffler.  My Sonata is tinted all around beyond what the law allows when I lived in NY and the tint shop guy said no one is going to bother you in your POS Sonata.

There's a few nice threads on what people have done to match factory tint in the toyota-4runner.org forum.

Yeah and you don't get that much extra. Basically a rear locker and KDSS which is optional. I have no need for a rear locker. KDSS would be nice to have but not a deal breaker.

I'd rather have the cheaper price and the third row seats.

Premium gets you better audio (optional on non-premium), pretend leather, power seats, and moon roof (plus a few things I don't really care about).

Trail gets you crawl control, locking rear diff, "lever-type transfer case" (not sure what the alternative is here?), and the option for KDSS (which I've read is pretty awesome, actually).

It's kind of dumb that the 3rd row isn't an option with the Trail though.

The "I dunno, it was like this when I bought it, didn't know, haven't been pulled over for it before" lines will usually get you through the first stop or two.

Raza

They're doing a $399 a month lease deal on the Discovery Sport.  Time to trade in the 4Runner!  You've had it too long already.

You're my age.  We're getting old.  Plus, now that you're married, your life expectancy has gone way down, since you're more likely to be poisoned by your wife.

Anything come out of the tint debacle or has that been back burnered?

So when are the TRD wheels coming?

Don't worry. He's probably already contemplating his next purchase.

Still  this thing.  Not loving my new commute.  The only thing that would get me out of the 4Runner for the foreseeable future is basically an autonomous car that can get me through traffic to and from work, which is still years off.

The car swapping is finally coming to an end.

Carried wheel chair ramps and a wheel chair this weekend.  Then on Sunday I carried a ton of mulch, a wheelbarrow, and shovel.  Having a vehicle with this kind of utility is awesome

TRD Pro suspension is going to be ordered either this week or next.  1.5-2" lift will happen all around.

Finally got around to installing the HID kit I had laying around. Let there be light!

Next up is the fog lights. Got a new set of LED fogs. Think I'm going to spray them yellow though

Laminex is better if you're gonna spray them. Yellow HIDs/LEDs are even better than Laminex cuz you won't lose lumens....

I bought laminX for the fog lights. Tried applying it. It didn't go well. It looks like shit. The laminX was too thick, and the shape of the lens required quite a bit of stretch. It looked off.

You're not a fan of the yellow tint paint?

Not a fan of paint at all! Did you use a Heat Gun on the LaminX? I have it on my fogs and the heat gun made a big differance! The LamineX laid down perfect with heat. without heat it was a mess! Wrinkles everywhere!!

Yeah you have to heat the shit out of the Lamin-x or else you're in for a bad time.

Tempting, but I think I will go with a slight lift.  Need to maintain my billy goat dominance in the mall parking lots.

Should get my quote back today on all the suspension goodies for the 4Runner and S2000.  Retail is about $1,000 per vehicle.  Let's see how much cheaper I end up

I just opened them. They look nice. I'll get them in the vehicle tonight.

Carpet floor mats get so gross during the winter here. Just salt and sludge getting dragged in all the time.
