Do you have any before pics of the grille?  The picture on the first page of the thread doesn't really show it.

MrH

I don't think I have any before pics. It was just the stock 4Runner grill before.

Needs a brush guard to cover that gaping hole on the front. That would be totally rice then.

Valiant attempt at trying to clean up the front end but the underlying face is one only a mother could love. Eesh.

Got the Bro Tank front windows tinted today. Told them to match the OEM tint on the rear. From outside, it looks just about spot on.

But from the inside, it's noticeably darker. It's so different, a quick glance over the shoulder to change lanes bothers me.

Thoughts?

The back is darker? The back should be darker. Get used to it? Most SUVs are like that.

Oh, woops, thought the head rest pointed the other way. Derp.

Either tint the rest of the windows to match or pull the tint off the fronts, I think those are really the only two options.

If you told them to match the tint and it ended up being darker, aren't they responsible for removing it and putting new tint on?

I won't make any comments about how douchey front window tint looks though. I just won't make that comment.

I'd ask them to redo it.

If it were the other way around (front lighter) it wouldn't bother me, but having the front that dark would be annoying. Is it hard to see out of when driving at night?  I've been in cars with the front tinted so dark it seems like a safety issue at night.

Re the front end, I don't know why they did that to the front end of the base models with the refresh. Looks like shit, probably wouldn't deter me from getting one but you almost need to get the limited now due to that front.  The TRD is an improvement I guess.

Yeah, it's easier to see through to the yard on the other side of the car in the rear window than the front.

Yeah, that's the plan.  I have to call them and tell them I'm not happy.

The limited front end has waaaaaay too much chrome.  I like the interior and options but the exterior looks are rough.  It's also very expensive.

I'd probably get a Trail Premium, but even those are pretty pricey.

Yeah and you don't get that much extra. Basically a rear locker and KDSS which is optional. I have no need for a rear locker. KDSS would be nice to have but not a deal breaker.

I'd rather have the cheaper price and the third row seats.

Matching tint film to actually-tinted glass is like trying to match a factory paint job with vinyl wrap.

The fronts are certainly just ever so slightly darker, both inside and out in those pictures.  Not sure how much closer they can get it...I'm guessing they don't have 32.47% tint film or whatever the oddly specific factory tint level is.

My (unfortunate) guess is that even if they bump it a few percent and get the outside to match perfectly, the two will still look slightly different from inside just because one's a film applied to already-treated glass and the other is factory tinted.

Post refesh, the Limited is infinitely better looking than the SR5 sorry. Pizza cutter limited wheels still look goofy though.

They screwed up.  The front, even from the outside, is noticeably darker.  If they give you problems, have them do the tint meter check on the front window and the back window which all places which do tint should have.

By googling you should be able to figure out what percentage window tint is stock on the back windows and maybe even what brand of tint.  Then you should be able to exactly match it up.

I also don't like how they tint the back windows in SUVs darker than the front windows.  Plus putting on good quality tint in the front helps prevent the dash and seats from getting hot and helps prevent UV light from frying your face.

Many US states don't allow front window tint by law, so manufacturers often don't bother putting any tinted glass in the fronts and leave it up to the customer.
