They are both a little bigger, Outlander moreso. But the Q5 is bigger than anything in the class so I guess I'm making something out of nothing. I'm just concerned about whatever we get fitting in our garage.

They're all literally about 3-4" inches within each other. The Q5 is much wider and about the same length, but the Outlander/Rogue is the same size as the Escape and Kin.

The Outlander and Rogue have 3rd rows and they're the same size as the Escape

The 2006-12 Toyota RAV4 also offered an optional third-row seat.

This looks like a Audi A3, especially from the rear. VWs really having a hard time in the design department.

... Nissan needs to use these shocks on the GT-R.  It would be like the Incredible Hulk wielding Thor's hammer.... unstoppable.

Yup. And "only" getting 270hp or something...

That was only because the Audi's 4.2 V8 at the time had only 285 HP ..... still that engine was good enough to propel the Passat W8 to 170 MPH

The V8 and W8 are completely different engines. Which in retrospect makes no sense as the Audi 4.2 fit just fine:

Passat W8 might be the most needlessly complicated car of modern time. What a disaster.

Huh? Who said they were the same or related? I obviously said that VW Group detuned the W8 on purpose so the economy brand's midsize sedan would not be equally or more powerful and faster that their luxury brand's flagship sedan. The W8 was good for at least 300 HP.

You didn't say that at all, but that's to be expected. More importantly though, the V8 was also good for at least 300 HP, and incredibly enough was way less complicated, and fit under the hood of the Passat no problem. My point is the W8 served no purpose.

Fitting in the space and fitting in the space while also meeting crash/pedestrian safety standards and other requirements are not the same thing.  Lots of shadetree mechanics cobble things together that work or "fit" but would never make it into a production automobile.
