What IS your fuel economy?

What are you guys getting in terms of MPG? A lot of people say that the EPA's tests are bunk and that cars will never achieve them, but I generally get the EPA's results or better.

The Sonic is rated for 29 city, 40 highway, and 33 combined. Usually with driving for Lyft, my MPG's are usually 32-33 on the money, or 28-29, if I end up city driving more all that week. I've seen as high as 38MPG, but I usually keep it at 75-80MPH (where the car is turning a low for it's engine size and car class of 2800RPM).

The Yaris was rated for 36MPG highway, and in my old sedan I saw 42 (at the painful speed of 65MPH), and the hatchback's lack of cruise control (until when I sold it) and worse aero saw me see 37MPG at best. In the winter, the Yaris was kinda garbage, since the thing was so slow, I was always driving fast, so before I sold it I was doing good to average 30-31MPG.

how about you guys?

I am not sure how my commute compares to the EPA tests, but I seem to get ~20 MPG (range of 19-21 MPG) just about everywhere (ie: long trips or just commuting to work).

30-33mpg at 60mph.  27/28 in mixed driving

25 if I'm going 80-85 on the highway

My old Dodge pickup gets 15MPG, the Harley does about 43MPG.

I do about 60/40 highway/city....

Z did 18-22 depending on the time of year. Mostly averaged to about 20. Bike gets 45 or so, I think. Civic has been weird. Before the coilovers I got about 28-29 year round. Since I put them on I've been getting like 25-27. I got an alignment check and I'm out of spec. I'm hoping to put all my camber kits and shit on I guess some time this week so I can get an alignment Saturday. Hopefully I haven't chewed through my tires too bad.

EPA on my car 18/28/21, and my Fuelly average (from a long time ago) is 23.8 in mixed driving, more highway. Nowadays, if I broke 20mpg, I'd be surprised. But I drive so little, I don't even track it anymore.

I usually fall somewhere between the EPA city and highway values in normal driving.  Usually closer to the city number since most of my driving is short trips with some stop and go.

EDIT:

Been actually tracking the Mustang and recording it.

Best tank to date - 24 mpg (almost all highway)
Worst tank to date - 15 mpg (mostly city/suburban and an autoX)
Average MPGs per fill-up to date - 19.5 mpg

Information center in the car is telling me my lifetime average is ~21.5, but if it's like the trip meter, it's ~5% high, so probably around 20.5 total average.

One of the mental issues I'm having once I turn in my Beetle is whether to get a manual transmission fuel sipper coupe or sedan like a 4 cylinder Honda Accord or get a manual transmission V8 pony car.  I drive a lot, about 25,000 miles a year, with my Beetle and it is extremely psychologically gratifying to go 500 miles between fill-ups.  I think about how with a 4 cylinder Accord, I'd match or even do better than the fuel cost of the Beetle because gasoline is cheaper than diesel.  Then I think about how totally cool it would be to daily drive and park a pony car outside my house (I park outside my garage) and is that worth the extra $2000 a year in gas and extra $10000 in up front cost.

My SRX has been getting very poor fuel economy, to the tune of 15.5-16.0 MPG. Not good.

Lifetime average of 9.0 L/100 km (26 mpUSg), 85% city driving. Best tank I ever had was 6.88 L/100 km (34.2 mpUSg) on a trip to Radium Hot Springs, BC. Worst tank was in winter a few years ago, 100% city driving; 13.04 L/100 km (18 mpUSg).

Or split the difference and get a manual transmission four-cylinder pony car with 30 mpg highway -- win-win!

I typically get about 32-35 mpg in the Focus, in maybe 70% highway. It's rated 24 city/33 highway.

I wish the Accord Coupe looked better.  It's not ugly, just not visually interesting in the slightest.

That $2000/yr is at current prices.... gas goes up, it will get worse. 25K miles a year... not worth it IMO. I do about 20K miles a year and sold my Z for similar reasons.... going from a $50 fill up twice a week to a $25 fill up like every 5 days was very nice. I do have the bike when I want to look cool though.

Yeah...  I hear you.  I hear you.  My wife doesn't want me to get a small car again like the Beetle and since she's egging me on to get whatever car I want in whatever color (as long as it's not a small car), I'm not complaining.  I gotta go manual since it's so much fun.  Limited options outside of a pony car or Jeep.  Reviews of 4 cylinder pony cars haven't been great and if I need to put premium gas in anyways (like I should with the Camaro), the fuel cost of V6 is actually cheaper.

In the case of the Mustang, the only reason to get the 4-banger over the V6 is because Ford offers minimal feature content and options on the V6.  The V6 is actually the better engine overall in terms of performance to fuel cost.  Ford knows this, and that's why they don't offer the V6 in anything more than the most basic trim level with essentially zero available options beyond color and transmission choice.

I get around 16-18 toodling around town in the van. We get about 25-26mpg on the highway, cruise at 70mph or less.

Do you still have your old CTS?

Speed_Racer

Kizashi is rated 23/30, I average about 20-21 lately. 98% of my driving is city/urban, so only short 10 min trips under 35 mph.

SV gets 46-48 and I ride it like I stole it.

yup, 12 years old, 114k miles, and still chugging along.

19-22 mpg mixed?  Not quite sure.  Speedo, and thus odometer work intermittently so I don't know how much I drive.

9,4l/km in mixed driving, I think it's c. 25mpg for XC90, not bad considering my driving style.

We are taking a road trip to denmark and Legoland, with over 2200 km of driving, mainly highways, so it'll be interesting to see how it does.

Xer0

The Si is rated at 22/31.  In mostly city driving, I'm averaging like 21.  I've done a couple of 100% highway trips in it recently that got me as high as 30 on the dot, but it looks like its consistently 1 mpg under EPA.  I drive so little though (17k miles in the past 2.5 years) that I really don't care.
