Wait wait wait wait... $338/mo. for 39 months, and the residual is $29,000? dafuq?

It was a retired loan car and I'm a GM dealer employee. We got full tax credits and a shit load off MSRP. We get these deals monthly. Escalades are sub $600/mo.

CJ

I legit don't know what the residual is. I couldn't give a shit.

MrH

Lol. I would totally drive an Escalade for under $600/month.

I doubt this is a better car than a Volvo 940.

I can assure you, the Volvo 940 is a superior vehicle in nearly every way.

Considering a loan payment would be substantially more, it's not too bad.

MrH

Well, you own something at the end of the loan. Between the CTS and an Escalade, you and Jeff will be dropping a grand a month and have nothing to show for it when the leases are up

That's a lot to spend on cars. And that's coming from me

Thinking about it and doing it are two very different things. I don't think he wants an Escalade, but it's fun to think about. His Genesis is $213/mo. It's cheap as fucking dirt.

A payment is a payment. You miss enough, they're taking the car anyway. And they can finance it at the end of the lease if they want.

I actually think leasing would have been a better fit for you. How long did you have the BRZ and Genesis?
Protecctor of the Atmospheric Engine #TheyLiedToUs

MrH

Yeah, just overall, $1000/month for years and no equity at the end to show for it seems like a lot to me.

Had the brz for 2.5-3 years I think? Genesis was only about a year. Plan was to keep the genesis longer, but it didn't work out. If I had to do it all over, I would have kept the NC Miata and just bought an SUV as a second car. But hey, you live and learn. I got to experience a lot of different cars in the process.

Equity is important, but a bit overrated if you're changing cars often. Over a 2-4 year timeline, all that really matters IMO is depreciation and financing costs, which I think may actually be advantage lease.

No matter how you slice it, the month to month machinations of buying something like an Escalade are painful  I don't think I can stomach buying a car that costs more than $30K and that would have to be really far down the depreciation curve.

People do it though.... recently heard a story about a guy who got clipped for fraud.... making $84K driving a brand new XF. Run the numbers on that.... I found the exercise quite entertaining

Sorta relevant but there's a white CT6 at work and god damn that car looks good.

You're not buying a new $50-70k car making $84k a year.

Someone around the block from my house bought a new (gray) CT6. Car definitely has presence.

I'd actually like to see the CTS and CT6 side by side. Both look good, not sure which I'd prefer TBH.

IDK, 84K a year looks to be around 5500 take home pay? With a down-payment, it sounds totally doable (but too much money to spend on a car).

at 84K a year, a more basic A6/XF/528i is totally attainable.

Is it smart? Probably not.

Yea I have to agree, especially since you probably couldn't tell the difference between that and a used regular one at half the price, and I'm struggling to think where you could even begin to unleash the dragon on that thing in your typical use.

I wish there were more variety in the 600 class.... I could do a 600 V4 or a 750 V twin

It's ~$5k more but you get the Ohlins and forged wheels.

But even the RR version is too batshit crazy for the street. 201 hp. :mask:
