So you want extreme off road abilities and extreme on road handling dynamics. That means serious adaptive suspensions and some big money.

A used 2014 Range Rover Sport? I wouldn't want to have to pay to keep one of those on the road, but outside of that, your only other choice is a Cayenne really.

Carmax. http://jalopnik.com/my-range-rover-s-carmax-warranty-is-now-half-over-and-i-1733772237

MrH

Demuro blew that up. His $3900 warranty is now up to $9k+ in claims. But now on range rovers, the warranty is either much more expensive or not offered at all.

Yeah same with his ASton I'm pretty sure.  Since he started pasting his shit all over the internet CarMax made lots of changes.

You're taking "sport" the wrong way.

Yeah, "sport" in the case of SUV means they support other sporting activities, like camping/hunting trips or hauling your kids to soccer practice, rather than the vehicles themselves being sporty.

I would keep the Jeep and get a 335i or something for the daily grind

Better to ask for forgiveness than permission.... especially if you are the main breadwinner ;)

Maybe a variant on this: Offer to get *her* a nice new car if you can keep her Focus as your winter daily driver plus your Grand Cherokee for the beach.

If a Jeep Grand Cherokee isn't sporting enough to driving to work, I kind of doubt a Focus would be either.

I'd go with a CPO Cayenne for your needs. I thin the current gen did lose some off road capability compared to the previous one though.

Or, like some said: keep the Jeep and add a car.

If the main problem is soft brakes and a floaty suspension, it will be better at those. But for sure it's not the single best choice in the whole world for highway cruising.

r0tor

Focus would be worlds better... It really isn't a bad ride

I actully get a Carmax discount through work but never knew about their warranty coverage... I wonder how much a Cayenne GTS warranty would be at Carmax
