I believe more dense air would hurt mpgs, not help it

Maybe, but in cooler weather, people don't run the AC, which helps MPG.

Assuming a decent FI system, yes. Denser air = more fuel needed for a proper mixture ratio.

But they do run the defroster.  Which is AC.  :mask:

Not always. some systems turn the A/C on automatically but older/cheaper cars do not.

Not very helpful when your tires are too cold to get any grip.

Displayed MPG = 37.1
Calculated MPG = 35.0

So it's about 5% optimistic. Or the gas pump was off. Not bad. It says I got 42.6 MPG on my commute home today.

I think the pump was accurate in that it dispensed the amount of fuel that it said it did, but when the pump shuts off seems to vary a fair amount. Sometimes the XTerra shuts off with a few gallons to go, though that is usually visible on the gauge.

That's what I meant. And the ethanol content is always a variable.

Rear sway bar: enquired. It may be a special order part from a foreign market where Versa/Tiida tuning is actually a thing.

I run the defrost (with floor registers) all the time in the winter.  If I turn it off, side windows and the main windshield will fog up after 15 minutes or so.  Faster if there are other people in the car.

I saw rally versa hatch yesterday.  Knobbies, white wheels, giant mud flaps, that big hanging hair thing behind the rear wheels like on semis and busses, rally lights, and ten thousand stickers

Nissan maintenance schedules are strange. Change the brake (and clutch, if equipped) fluid every 10,000 miles.  Sure, why not. I guess I will get a set of speed bleeders.

So many mods. I am going to mod this car to death.
I ordered speed bleeders (which I won't need for 9300 miles), and a magnetic oil drain plug (which I won't need for 1300 miles, since I plan on doing the first oil change at 2000 miles, rather than the recommended 5000).

Still need to make an appt. for the window tint. That is one thing I know I can't do very well.

I have made two inquiries about an aftermarket rear sway bar, with no replies yet. It will be a necessary item, and I will make my own if I have to.

Yes, rear sway bar is a go. The stock suspension needs one badly. Very understeery, not very able to accelerate out of a turn.

I. List of lists
  A. Mechanical items
    1. Rear sway bar
    2. Make polyurethane or solid torque mount
    3. Coilovers
      a. Camber bolts
      b. Rear shims
    4. Wheels/tires
      a. Extended wheel studs or spec. lug nuts
  B. Other items
    1. Window tintz
    2. Weathertech floor liner
    3. Polish and wax paint
