4 speed transmission makes me sad.  I don't know why, but every single 4 speed I drive just doesn't feel right.  5 is my absolute minimum.

They don't feel quite as "off" in a torquey, V8 truck than in a smaller car.

Yeah, ex had a POS Saturn with a 4-speed.  Most miserable road trip vehicle ever.  No cruise, and going through the mountains of Tennessee, it didn't have the power to get up them to begin with.  It'd sit bouncing between 2nd and 3rd and couldn't maintain speed.
