You guys are just jealous because you can't think up these sick burns as well as Elon.

It's pretty bad when you have seemingly no headspace to consider that your childish Tweeting negatively affects your stock value and tarnishes your brand image to those with mature heads on top of their meat and bone sacks.

TSLA near 52 week low. Short sellers are swimming in it.

We're getting A LOT of resumes at work from Tesla folk - forget the exec exodus, IC exodus (and lower bar for recruiting) is even worse.

And the bloodbath continues!

All signs point to them cutting production substantially.  They just went all out in Q3 to try to be cash flow positive and can't make it.  And that's only building high margin cars.  Now the demand is grinding to a halt.  The 420k reservations was a myth.  They're out of cash.  They can't raise and Elon can't leave.  The vultures are circling.

Big things are coming!

Best case scenario is they sell assets, including supercharger network. Someone does it smart and licenses it out to everyone.

This just in - NHTSA says the Model 3 is literally the safest car on the road, and the safest car they've ever tested.

This from the mind that was convinced they were too cash strapped to install more superchargers... You might want to revisit that

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic.  You were previously a naysayer about the car as a product, saying it was sort of a kit car.  Have you changed your mind?

MrH

The product isn't bad.  The manufacturability, quality, and business that creates the product?  HORRENDOUS.

The question is, who buys? Only domestic I'd want involved is GM. And if they get bought, does the cool factor disappear? What a tenuous position.

To my point earlier in the thread that I thought Musk looked unwell. I remember him telling an interviewer that he gets 2:00 AM phone calls about in-the-weeds stuff.

COGs are out of control, because Tesla doesn't know what they're doing.  This is the exact opposite of what Apple represents.  I just think it's a real long shot.

If Apple were to buy them, I'm guessing it would be post bankruptcy and they would kill the Model 3 entirely and just live in the $100k+ market.

I'd be shocked if Apple did it - if so it'd basically be as charity. Most people can't afford EVs, and no manufacturer can make a business out of EVs. It's the exact opposite with Apple and its products.

And just in general, it's hard to make a profit from cars, even the bread-n-butter Camcords and F-150s. Margins are slims, product design cycles are long, unions are rampant, consumers are fickle, and it's all underpinned with hyper consumerism and loose consumer credit.

I would argue that a lot of the people that buy $1000+ iPhones can not afford them either.

You are right about the lower margin compared to Apple products, nevertheless, Apple is still quietly working on their autonomous car, which we know because one was recently involved in a crash and had to be reported to authorities. If Apple is serious about entering the car business then Tesla would probably be a good fit culture wise.
