Taycan sets ring record.

Elon tweets he's going to the ring next week

Ring doesn't have anything on the schedule for him and he's done nothing to get ready for this

He ends up taking a highly modified model S to Laguna Seca and claims he set a record.  And that this model S will come out next year sometime.

Laguna Seca says no course times were officiated, so no record was set

So ridiculous.

So ridiculous indeed... Ridiculously fast

I wonder how much faster it could go if they put a "turbo" badge on it

I wonder how much slower it would go if it had factory tires ;)

I would ask when that version will be available for purchase

But I will have to ask what relevance a Ring time has to my life first.

It's all about the ability to magazine race your car and it could beat another car's magazine times.

Now it's coming out that wasn't a full out lap.  They cut off the main straight quite a bit unless it's totally closed for an OEM.  Open days to the public are like this.  It chops about a mile out of the whole thing.

Tesla's twitter account tweeted this today:

"Data from our track tests indicates that Model S Plaid can achieve 7:20 at the Nürburgring."

Data indicates it can achieve.  L-O-FUCKING-L

This is Musk in a nut shell.  Comes to the Nurburgring, doesn't complete a full lap, tries to string together different sectors of multiple laps together, in a non-production, stripped out version of a highly modified model S.  Claims victory.

What a fucking joke.

And now there's a video of a model S broken down on the ring.  There's a tow truck coming out for it, while a Taycan laps it.  I couldn't write a better movie for Porsche if I tried

Can't believe you so willingly carry the water for such an obvious fraudster.  It's so sad.

Anyone that goes to a track checks out their sector times to figure out a number to chace.  It's not an official lap time, it's what your perfect lap could be and what the driver wants to get

On a circuit as long as the ring, and especially on an EV with known and documenting heat issues after a couple laps on much shorter tracks, piecing together multiple parts from multiple runs is more than a little dishonest.
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

Again, where are they advertising an official lap time? They only announced what they think they can get to after a day of testing

That literally says "this is our goal." Do I need to explain the difference between "we want to" and "we can?"
