My friend is selling me his stock 2013 WRX wheels that has a set of new Continental WinterContact Si tires on it for not much more than what I bought the Blizzaks for.

The plan was to buy the RT615k+, mount those on the WRX wheels, and mount the Continentals on the V7 STI wheels currently on the car to use as my winter set. I've only got about 5k on the 595RSRR's but god damn they are loud as fuck.

Yikes there are a lot of numbers and what is this.

My snows are Blizzak LM-60s and they are borderline WRT tread life. I now have ~130k on the G and will be reticent to sell it anytime soon (plus I got Pilot Sport AS3+ earlier this year) if I buy new snows this year.

Snows are super loud and rough and terrible on bare roads, esp. wet.

I need a set of snow tires for skiing when I go to Tahoe. We had tried his WRX wheels when I had my old shitty coilovers and they didn't fit, but they do fit with these new BC coilovers so I just need to get the snow tires swapped off those wheels and onto my gold wheels.

What the fuck

You OK?

Yeah I'm OK. I was merging on the freeway, checked over my shoulder to merge into the next lane, car in front of me slammed on its brakes and I slammed on mine, but it was too late. Slid right into the tow hitch of a 2nd gen MDX. The MDX's bumper was barely scratched. My car is fucked.

I might make a new thread weighing in my options. I'm driving the MDX right now (oh the irony) but can't drive an autotragic for too long.

Actually, I'm not even going to make another thread. I have too many new parts that I can swap over.

- Coilovers
- Swaybar endlinks
- Wheels & tires
- Whiteline steering rack bushings
- TIC transmission bushings
- WRX front seats
- Headlights (surprisingly they're not broken, from what I can see)
- Foglights (bumper went under the rear bumper of the MDX so the fogs escaped)
- Skid plates
- Mudflaps

Plus parts in the mail:

- Stainless steel brakes lines
- Full WRX brake kit (including calipers)
- New shift knob and boot

Some of the stuff can be used on most Subarus (like the brakes, bushings, shift knob, etc), but some of them are '95-99 Legacy/Outback specific, including the coilovers and skid plates, so it doesn't really make sense to get something different. If I could, I'd like a 2.5L version with the headgaskets replaced, but I'd definitely get another 2.2L if I could find one. It's hard to find a 2.2L Outback, though. Most 2.2's are Legacies.

Another thought is to sell the wheels/tires and coilovers and just raise the next Outback 1.5 - 2" and save up for some Sparco Terras on BFG KO2 tires...

If I fix it on my own it's like it never happened.

The problem is I don't know how to fix a core support on my own. It would be easier for me to get another car.

Yeah, if it's just a rear ending, a new core support might just screw in

It's not subframe related... It needs a radiator support but I don't have access to a welder. If I get this professionally repaired it'll be way more than the cost of another car.

Car is at my parents' house right now so I can't check out the rest of the damage.

I know that the serpentine belt ripped off from getting smashed by the radiator. I don't know what else is wrong with the engine so not sure I want to fix it anyways.

Yeah so that's why you just replace the whole front subframe. Assuming it's bolt-on and not welded.

Front subframe just holds the engine and steering rack I thought? At least on the NC it's just the bottom bit that the engine sits in...

It looks like you missed the front subframe and frame rails. You look like you can get away with a core support and hood, but that's all I can see from this picture. I'm pretty sure it bolts right in, but i could be wrong. I know on my Sonic and my old Yaris, it was a bolt in affair.

But I could also be totally wrong. I also think that swapping over all these little parts to a new Legacy would be a PITA.

Soup DeVille

Even if the original core support is spotted welded, it's not uncommon for the service support to bolt in.

I don't know what else is messed up in the front though. The serpentine belt ripped off because the radiator slammed into the engine. The accessories might be toast at the very least.

I can get everything except the sound system swapped in a day. Coilovers take 2 hours max. It would take me way longer to source a new hood, radiator support, radiator, etc, and replace those than it would for the rest of the bits on the car, and that's IF I don't find any extra damage.

I'm also considering an Outback XT, which means I'd have to sell most of my parts...
