What would you get for the money besides a stickshift GT3? Only thing I would consider is a V12 Vantage S but that's a very different kind of car.

He means that most people won't  be able to get the car at sticker price, thus the 250K figure. A bit of an exaggeration but a real issue.

I like some alternatives in the GT3's price range.

Mercedes GT-S
Audi R8
Ferrari California (I forget the name of the new one)
Jag F Type R SVR

But yeah, the GT3 is best in class IMO.

I know, I was saying for even 250K I'm not sure there's anything I'd get over a stickshift GT3. V12 Vantage starts at $200K. What else is there? Huracan is ugly to me, never liked the R8. I think that might be it

No.  Same 6 spd as the GT3

"The gear ratio of the six gears is precisely tuned to the power development of the engine and offers particularly sporty shifting characteristics."

Oh damn. So the 911's are 7 speed and the GT3 is 6 speed?

Does the RS come with a manual too now?

RS is PDK only.  The point of that being the RS is for maximum track performance.

That's a very good point. Especially the McLarens that tend to depreciate faster than the Italians.

If your criteria is it must have a 3rd pedal, then no.

His fantasy criteria is "must have a manual". His reality criteria is he always gets an automatic.

I'd rather have a manual GT3 over anything else in the price range (and Porsche lineup).

It's not a must have, but it's a nice plus for this kind of car on the street. It's also naturally aspirated, RWD, and lighter than its competition. I suppose these things don't matter to MCM and the like as soon as I say they do to me, but I'd imagine such things would matter to enthusiasts

Yeah, I'd much rather have an NA, high revving flat 6 over anything else the competition brings. Plus a manual.

I also like how the GT3 isn't as flashy as other exotics like McLarens. Only true enthusiasts will know it's a special 911, so it flies under the radar in that regard, especially wingless. Plus, on the street the level of performance on these cars is so absurd anyways, who cares if it's slower or faster than its competitors. If you really cared about that you'd get a PDK GT3RS.

As a driver's car, GT3 Touring with 6MT all day for me.

Perhaps, if we are defining "lighter" as "weighing more"

911 GT3 (manual/PDK): 3,116/3,153lbs
488 GTB: 3,362lbs
Huracan LP-580-2: 3,350lbs (estimated; Lambo has meaningless "dry weight" at 3,026lbs)
R8 V10: Approximately 1 Infiniti G37 Journey
