Longest time owning a vehicle

I just realized I've had my current Focus for the 2nd longest time of all the vehicles I've had over the last 33 years... 5 years, 5 months, 159,000 kms.  My 1990 Golf, base 1.8 litre gas, manual, I bought new in Feb 1990, sold Jun 1998... 8 years, 4 months, ~345,000 kms.

A4 holds my longest thus far...about 5 years and two months, 66k miles.  Taco is fast approaching at 3 years, 2 months, and will surely surpass A4's time with me, unless I strike it rich.  Though I'd probably keep Taco anyways.

I'm one week short of owning my Mazda for nine years. Only have ~81,200 km on it.

Xer0

I had my last Civic about 6 years.  Current one is 4 years and 4 months.  Only 38K miles on it but planning on trading it in sometime next year, I'm over its shit steering.

My '01 Escape is the longest I've owned a vehicle that I've used as a daily driver.  Bought it in Nov. 2000, sold it Nov. 2015.  Never let me down.  On the other hand, I dragged my '70 Alfa Spider around with me from when I bought it in, I believe, 1974 to when I finally let go of it in 2015.

Morris Minor

Mazda MPV - June 1992 through October 2002 - 10 years 4 months - around 130,000 miles.  The transmission blew out. I was willing to have it replaced but my wife refused to drive it ever again. So it was donated to a charity.

Its replacement, a new 2003 Honda Pilot, is still in the family, & is now registered in California, it's fourth state.

Jesus...it seems like yesterday that you were telling us about owning the 2er for the first time.  Scary how quickly time goes by.

Reminds me of some of the Arab guys I went to college with. They literally got $50,000 allowance every week. When their clothes got dirty instead of washing them like normal people, they threw them away and bought new ones!

Lebowski

4Runner going on 9 years at the end of this year (MY2010 purchased Dec 2009).  A little over 100k miles. If there was a 6th gen out now I'd probably consider replacing it, as it stands I plan to continue driving it indefinitely, I put on < 10k miles/yr.

I think I had the C6 about 8 years.

MX793

I had my Mazda for 10 years and just shy of 100K miles.  Everything else has been 5-ish years, give or take 6 months or so.

I actually had my first car for 8 years.  It was a 2002 Mazda Protege5 with a 5-speed.  I had that from when I was 16 to 22 years old.  Then I flipped my dad's Tacoma, bought my miata.  Since that, I've kept cars usually between 1-3 years.

Interesting. I owned my MR2 about 6ish years, 2006 - 2012 but I just realized it'll be 6 years with the Kizashi this winter. So a new champion.

I drove it for a few years and then it became a project that I never quite got around to.  An Italian guy from Montreal whose passion was restoring old Alfas bought it.

Oh yeah, I remember when you bought that. Been a good car? I don't think I've ever seen one.

I owned an '02 Civic for about 14 years. I had other cars alongside it throughout the years, but held on to it. I finally sold it in 2016. Very little rust and very roadworthy.

:mask:

A few spots on the roof, of all places... I think this was caused by sap or resin or something like that that fell from a tree I parked under for ~3 years at my old office.

We just passed 16 years with our 01 Grand Caravan and 10 years with our 99 Suburban. I won't bother with the rest of the fleet.

Had the old '61 Apache pickup for 8 years. Had a real 39K on the clock when I bought it in about 1993, drove it 70,000 miles and sold it for more than I paid for it.

Huh, growing up I was taught to always wash new clothes before wearing them.

As for the thread, longest I owned a car was my last car, 2010 Audi S4. Roughly 6 years and 1 month.

12,000 RPM

I honestly don't know. I think the longest I've owned any car was 2 years. I've had my motorcycle for.... 7 years?... this September if that counts.

It's been an excellent car. I don't drive a ton so I'm only just now about to hit 50k miles on it, but it's only needed scheduled maintenance and tires.
