Weren't you just crying about them always breaking from the Chinese and Mexican parts in them?

That problem is common to all manufacturers, I would think. The new trade thing with Mexico addresses that.
Chinese parts avoid tariffs by being shipped to Mexico and masquerading as Mexican parts.
They plugged that loophole a bit.

Every car has Chinese parts in it. The parts aren't the problem.

Why, because you are a Ford mechanic?
Ah so credit ratings are only bad when the company isn't doing what you like.

No, FCA's teenage auto exec plan of more V8s and RWD sedans is a fast track to bankruptcy. Plus everything Ford did, FCA did worse. FCA was out of the FWD car business long before Ford, and their own CEO said their cars sucked. What few small cars they sell around the world are way older and worse than Ford's offerings. And so on and so forth.

Am I remembering you having a strange infatuation with the 200?

Charger sales BTW.. Somehow the thing is as old as dirt, but the teenage appeal seems to remain

2017   88.351
2016   97.110
2015   94.725
2014   94.099
2013   98.336
2012   82.592
2011   70.089
2010   75.397
2009   60.651
2008   97.367
2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee No Speed -- 2004 Mazda RX8 6 speed -- 2018 Alfa Romeo Giulia All Speed

How much of that is fleet or otherwise well below MSRP? Looking at the new Charger listings near me, a good half of them are available for 20-30% off. A lot of dealer's opening deals on 300s have 5 digits taken off the top. And this is V8 Mrcuh country. They have the same problems as Ford, only worse.

Not to mention unlike actual healthy nameplates the LX platform sales are still well below peak and falling.

So no, V8 RWD sedans aren't the way forward. They weren't the way for Ford (RIP Panther), they weren't the way for GM (RIP SS, keep Alpha in your prayers), they're not the way for FCA.

Volgas for years were basically restyled Ford clones, and I was under the impression Honqis were Chinese Volgas.

I think a handful of honqi limos from the late 1990's are Ford, but the early ones are Chrysler.

You realize I said it's profitability, not volume, right? Ford making "better" sedans doesn't mean shit if they're not profitable.

Better cars become more desirable and able to be sold at higher prices for bigger profits

I can find just as big of discounts on the F150s that Ford is banking on... It's the end of the sales model year, huge discounts are common

You won't find CR-Vs or RAV4s with 30% discounts like you will on LX cars....

Plus even with the discounts the high ATPs and growing sales leave plenty of margin for Ford on the F-150.... neither is the case for LX cars

So no the two are not comparable and no, the LX lineup is a pretty shitty anchor for FCA's future. If Ford's FWD cars got bashed for a lack of updates then so should the LX cars.

If they cost more to develop, who gives a fuck about MSRP?

Also, if they have the wrong badge, MSRP is similarly useless. The Fusion is not significantly worse than the Camry. But even if it were as good, people would not pay Camry money for it, because Ford.

This.

I suspect the Powershift blew out the profitability for the Fiesta and Focus line.

Ford's cars are *fine*.

LOL.
If every car has Chinese parts, but only certain cars break all the time, how are the parts the problem?

This is like saying tires are the problem.
