I averaged 33.x mpg in my last Mustang on a 650 mile round trip to southern PA and back.  Got over 35 on the return trip.  Actually ran that trip twice with that car with similar results (slightly lower the second time because I had ditched the OEM lo-po tires for some wider, summer hi-pos).  >300 hp NA and with the optional shorter axle ratio.

0 thanks to my bonus... But thanks for grasping for straws

Right; forgot, just a few months ago you were extolling your employer's generous compensation process.

I gave myself a bonus last week. It came out of my savings account.

I forgot complaining about how huge my loan was to begin with... Probably a reason I can't remember that...

Sorry Bro, but your fantasy of turbo cars not getting EPA numbers doesn't hold up.  Mid 30s is normal for these cars.

As for performance, plenty of info on mildly modified 0-60 runs here

The only way a G37 is doing that is if it's being towed.

A lot of people in that string were getting high teens into mid 20's

Still, from my own experience in a turbo 2.0 four, in a fairy heavy vehicle, it's possible (according to a trip computer at least) to get very good gas mileage especially relative to vehicle size.  In the E300, the engine turns at 1300RPM @ 60 which is less than a 5.0 V8 E500 I drove years back.

The transmission makes the big difference. I remember when the 5 series first got the 2.0T... Edmunds bought one and had a video of the ZF8 shifting every quarter second or so under slow acceleration. They really can keep an engine in its sweet spot with enough gears

Some cars just suck at it though, like mine

Checked the G's info system - lifetime is 19.8 mpg. I drive a lot with roof and hitch racks, and some on gravel roads and snowy roads. Thus, I up the lifetime to 20.7 mpg, aka 21 mpg. Not 22.5 mpg, but then again not bad IMO, given the size, weight, performance and AWD. Its Japanese of course, and thus at 160,000 miles and going strong and looking great.

giant_mtb

Shit, if we're allowed to artificially up our mileage because of snow or gravel, then I'd say Taco actually gets 49mpg because of how much snow and gravel I drive on.

Do you put premium, mid grade (89), or regular gas in it?

veeman

I used to put premium in my Infiniti QX56 when I first got it, which as expected is a gas hog, but I switched to mid grade a few years ago unless I'm on a long multi-hour trip where I put premium in.

I feel sorry for you with how terrible your gas consumption is

I don't feel sorry for you that you're making payments on a ~$45k, 10-year-newer car of the same class, with less power and less performance, and can only expect ~23 mpg mixed.

FoMoJo

Just finished a 200 kilometre trip, mostly secondary country roads getting 7.1 L/100 km = 33.1288 mpg.  2.0 Turbo (Ecoboost) in a 2 ton vehicle.  EPA MPG is 22 mpg combined with 20 city and 25 highway.  Don't know why they low ball it.

EPA Fiesta 1.0 Ecoboost is 31/41, 35 combined, but I can easily do 47 highway.
