Is there any danger of burning the paint with a blow dryer? Asking for a dumb ass friend who is not me.

Nah. Hair dryer isn't going to get your paint any hotter than it would get sitting out in the sun on a hot day.  Hair dryers only get up to about 150F.

Rule of thumb, though, only use as much heat as you need.

Does your hair dryer say Porter Cable or Revlon on the side?

I get them mixed up sometimes. I keep my heat gun in the bathroom and my hair dryer in the garage

Now that's gotta hurt.
(1980s  memory: using a heat gun to strip old exterior paint off our home in the UK - guessing I inhaled a lot of lead. Carefree days.)

Use as little heat as you can to get under the badge with floss.  I have a heat gun that puts out way more than is necessary to debadge.

That's why I got a fancy adjustable one. 6 heat settings, 2 fan speeds. Heat setting 2 or 3 is plenty for badges, decals, tint, or pretty much anything sticky.

Also useful for getting gum, gummi bears, etc. out of carpets/upholstery.
