How should I ask the city to fix an intersection?

Several times a week, I almost get creamed by traffic running about 20 feet past a stop sign from a road that I make a left turn onto. Several times, I have actually cut my left turn sharp to go behind the car running the stop sign. I thought about just throwing up one of those really annoying plastic speed bumps at the white line, but they cost $200+. Maybe I could steal one from around the abandoned mall. But fuck that.

How do I go about demanding that the city fix this shit? The best thing would be to turn it into a roundabout, but $$$. A speed bump would slow these idiots down really fast, or bend the shit out of their rimmmzzz.

I was reading email while that played on the other screen and more than half of the drivers did not stop. Some blew through at high speed.

On Saturday night, a motorcycle wrecked right in front of my house, and the rider died at the hospital. This intersection is incredibly dangerous. They are currently spending a buttload of money on rebuilding an existing sidewalk, but the entire intersection needs to be redesigned.

It needs to be a round booty or a three-way stop. It is currently a two-way stop, with one right of way going northeast around a blind corner. Speed limit is 30, but traffic flys through at 40+ because the police have been defunded and won't enforce anything. There are wrecks every other week, but this is the first fatality in the three years I've lived there.

Having streetview-stalked the intersection, I can see why it's so horrible. Needs a complete rework.

Roond-booties are great (and I've never understood America's unnatural & perverted attraction to stop signs) but they're land-hungry & cost of realigning everything, utilities, land acquisition etc. is huge. In a couple of places here they've put in rumble strips on the approaches & put LED flashing lighty thingies on the stop signs themselves.

Good point - they force people to engage. I once had to stop on the roundabout here for a lady who was backing up because she'd missed her exit. That's what I call engagement.
