I know another guy with a Lightning reservation. He's really not a truck guy, but the spec sheet and price were just too enticing. Lots of possibilities with that enormous battery.

Yeah, I'm not a huge truck guy either, but it's a hell of a compelling argument.  The big front trunk adds a lot of functionality.  You basically have a massive crossover worth of passenger space and a trunk in the front, plus a huge bed.  Then you add in 0-60 in 4 seconds, AWD, instant torque.  Throw in subsidies and lack of gas costs, and it's within spitting distance of what my Outback is worth.  There are at least a few times a month where having a truck bed would be really nice.  EV applied to trucks make the most sense to me.  They benefit from instant torque a lot, they consume the most gas, etc.  An EV drivetrain eliminates pretty much everything I hate about ICE trucks.

If the girlfriend has an ICE crossover that we can take on anything over a Lightning's range, why not go for it?  Especially with all the talk of more EV subsidies, especially UAW produced EVs...

I totally hate EV subsidies, but I don't hate the player, I hate the game.  If these are the cards we're dealt, I'm going to take advantage of it.

I'll be interested to see the towing range on the Lightning.  Every tow test I've seen for an EV results in really abysmal range.  Not great if you tow a camper unless your campsite is really close to home.

Yeah, I don't think it's really intended for people who tow campers regularly.  It's great for suburban home depot types

I thought the punishing ride was some kind of tacticool cosplay thing.

Everything about these vehicles is at least partially fantasy based.
Not 1% of Jeep owners will ever go to Moab, or trek across the Gobi desert, or do a mountain trail. Sure, some do; but the other 99% are fantasizing they could, while they load up the groceries.

The same could be said about most Vette and Lamborghini, and other high performance car owners. Very few will ever do anything other than 15 over on the highway or stop light drags.
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

And some percentage of these will end up putting their car into a ditch or wrapping it around a tree.

My wife loves watching these videos.  First thing in the morning, well first thing when she gets up, she's watching her cell phone cackling away watching dumb driver crash videos.

The difference is all the dreaming stuff actually results in something like a Vette driving great... Your not shooting yourself in the foot living with an ancient recirculating ball steering rack

The Bronco Sport is another iteration of the Escape.  Looks better IMO.

Lol about vehicles not being used right, few years back I saw a yellow Lambo at the post office in SC then a half hour later as I was doing my errands saw it again, doing their errands. :)

As for when they'll start building and deliver  it...it's still up in the air. So far it seems like "sometime" next year.

Woah, congrats.  Really cool configuration.  2-door green manual is going to be a total unicorn car.

Nice!

Soup DeVille

It really is a nice green.

I don't think they made that one at first, did they? I looked, and remembered being disappointed there wasn't a better green.

She wanted something unique without being too flashy like the orange or yellow colors

I'm not really a 4x4 guy, but I do like the new Broncos.  Especially in 2-door form.  I even kind of like the little Bronco Sport.
