Melissa got her initial production date (Jan 24, 2022) & VIN today. It's getting built earlier than expected but she's not complaining. It'd be a nice surprise if she can take delivery in Feb, her birthday month  :muffin:

Maybe the pictures play tricks on my mind, or it's the wheel/tire pkgs, but I'm always surprised how much larger they are in person than I expect them to be.

Vs. Ranger:

They're in the same range as the competitors I could think of.

Modern vehicles are heavy.
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

IIRC, Wrangler is a fair bit lighter.

Google says 3900 to 4500 with the Bronco at 4200-4900.

Not enough of a difference to make much of a difference.

Maverick hybrid is coming in around 3700 at the low end. Which is why the gas mileage numbers are so much better, even on the non-hybrid terbow version.

I've seen a few 4 door Broncos in person now, and they are big. I'd like to see a 2 door to see if they are also very big or if the shorter length reduces the overall perception of bigness

So with the gouging going on for Regular Cooking Grade Broncos, what will this actually go for?

2022 Ford Bronco Raptor Price Starts At $69,995, Gets Big Upgrades

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMMMLfzAGrI

Yes, and I posted an ad for a first edition (which is just a badge on a normal Bronco) going for $80k.  I'm wondernt what the actual markup on the Raptor will be.

(I think Ford should have waited another year and milked sales of the non-Raptor before releasing this)

Ford's Latest Bronco One-Off Is Excellent, Somehow Pope-Themed

After selling the first production 2022 Bronco at a Barrett-Jackson auction last year, Ford is once again bringing one to the auction house this week. This example, however, is a four-door with a theme. This one is a customized four-door Bronco First Edition, set to be auctioned to support Detroit's Pope Francis Center. To follow the theme, the Bronco is Pope-themed.

I wonder if they'll have an OJ themed version.  It would sell for really big bucks at Barrett-Jackson.

These massive stock tires on Broncos and Wranglers; they're not really that good in the snow or ice, correct?  They're more for off-roading.

It depends on the tire? If the all-terrain tire has a 3 Peak Mountain Snowflake rating then it is designed for better handling in snow and ice. Many all-terrain tires don't have this rating but they are available. The tires on the Bronco in the picture above appear to be BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 tires which are 3PMSF rated.

CaminoRacer

Some of them would benefit from having skinnier tires, even if they are snow rated. Depends on how much and what type of snow you're driving on.

ice, no; they're pretty bad actually. Snow, it depends- if its deep packed snow, they can be some help, but usually no.

Remember though- the 3PMSF symbol is a minimum rating, and it means compared to an identical sized regular all season tire that it does 10% better on medium packed snow. That's it.

The size of the tire may still be inappropriate for the conditions.

Yeah thanks.

The police Ford Explorer cruisers all have these undersized skinny winter wheels/tires on in our town in the winter and I know winter tire/wheel packages are never these massive stock tires I'm seeing on Broncos, Wranglers, and the like.  They look cool (especially the full size spare hanging on the rear).  Probably great on pot holes because there is so much tire side wall height.

Soup DeVille

Big tires can be great for sand, mud, and rocks. They can be good for deep snow. Just not the kind of packed snow and ice that is a hazard on roads.

Yeah the Artic exploration trucks have massive balloon tires. But skinny tires that can cut through the snow/ice/slush are usually better for driving on roads
