He's added yet another to his collection - FoMoJo will like this one - a primo '68 Mercury sedan with a 428! I've emailed him a couple of times when I find a local prospect. Seems his limit is $10-$12k, which is amazballs considering some of his collection. He says he gets most all his leads from channel subscribers selling a car (such as an estate sale) or simply from Facebook marketplace.

My first visit to the USA was in 1979. I was best man at a wedding outside Philadelphia. The father of the bride had a loaded 1972 Mercury Grand Marquis Brougham.

Despite my being only 22, he let me drive it. It was a revelation: utterly huge, utter silent inside, and a completely isolated pillowy ride. I remember opening the hood and wondering at the A/C compressor being not much smaller than the engine in my Vauxhall Chevette back home.

I guess the car was eight years old by then - so the ravages of winter road salt had taken hold. I have a photo somewhere and you can see rust had eaten through in places in the lower fenders.
