Maybe it's you that has terrible headroom. Thought about losing a vertebra or two?

Given my back issues, maybe I should just get a few removed and fused together.

That also has terrible head room apparently.  I don't get it.

The current Avalon seems a lot nicer.

One year follow up on having an EV6.

32 thousand miles.  Wife mostly drives it and high mileage is due to her long work commute.  I drive it mostly on the weekends.

Never taken it yet for any kind of service.  I probably should have rotated the tires but I'm just going to replace all 4 tires prior to the upcoming winter with the OEM tires (I'm happy with them).  Never have charged it at a public charger.  Only charge at home with a level 2 charger and rarely at someone else's home Tesla level 2 charger with an adaptor.  Home charger glitched one time and the installer came out and fixed it a few days later for free (I think it was under warranty). Supposed city/state rebates for having an EV charger were mostly lame in my opinion and required you to agree to limit charging during peak hours and the rebate wasn't that great so I felt it was somewhat deceptive advertising.

Best car I have ever owned. Very fast (and I don't have the GT model which is much faster) and very quiet.  Well insulated. Ride is soft but not wallowing.  Really comfortable seats and great ergonomics.

It's very fast in a straight line.  It doesn't take sharp turns well at high speed (it feels heavy) but I'm sure the GT model is much better for that.

Its driving assist features are just ok. I rarely use them.

I did not realize prior to owning an EV how nice it is to "idle" without spewing fossil fuel farts at the site of idling. With an ICE car, if I was on child transportation duties, I would usually stop at Starbucks or Dunkin to spend up to an hour waiting for their activity to end.  Now I have no problem "idling" in my EV in temperature/humidity controlled silence listening to an audiobook.

Have been stopped by passersby in parking lots at least 10 times who say it's a great looking car and want more info on it. I always tell them it's fantastic but if you want to drive it beyond its home range, get a Tesla because of its public charge network. If you have another car for long distance driving, I can't recommend it enough and they'll love it.

Depreciation is horrible. Doesn't matter much to me as long as the car doesn't get totaled.  I'm one year done on a 5 year 0% apr loan after putting $8 thousand down.

I really like the driving position on it. It's comfortable and upright, enough to get out of a lot of truck headlights, but it's not high and tippy either. Just right.

You do feel the heft around tight corners but it follows sinuous roads with fantastic confidence. It's so much fun in Sport mode.

Yeah calling it an SUV is marketing b.s. It's a hatchback. For me this is better because it drives, like you said, really planted and stable. Wife while test driving thought it was an SUV but after a few days of owning it questioned why it's called an SUV because it feels much lower to the ground than her Infiniti QX60 and she's much lower to the ground than other SUVs pulled up next to her on the road. After a few more days of owning it she said to me she didn't care it wasn't an SUV because it drove so well and many people have complimented the car in her work parking garage. She also liked that many people who complimented her car didn't know what it was. "What kind of car is that? It looks so cool and futuristic!"

The idling thing is really nice for those of us who have to shuttle kids around to various activities.

I pulled into the daycare parking lot yesterday to pick up the grandkids and there was a Tesla in the next space with the A/C humming unobtrusively, keeping things cool while the parent was retrieving the kids. It's one of many little things you can do quietly & cleanly with EVs that you can't do with ICE.

Well, my car's ICCU main fuse popped. It's had all the service recalls applied. And yet...

God dammit!

I had to Google "ICCU" and it led me to this (in the unlikely case you haven't already seen it) - looks like it's been a bit of a saga. This sucks, sorry.

Thanks. I knew EXACTLY what the problem was after just half a second. This is the car's only major flaw, it's the thing I've been dreading.

Shit. Did you need a tow, or could you limp home? I'm guessing the dealer will swap in a beefed-up ICCU that fixes the problem.

ICCU is fixed and the car is ready for pickup.

Mine popped a couple days before the THIRD ICCU recall was announced, so I guess I just beat the rush?

I used to be a master mechanic, but I don't know what an ICCU is. Already obsolete. /wrists

Irregardless, I figured out a solution. Get a small gas powered generator and strap it to the roof. Invert the output to 12VDC and wire it directly to the battery.

I assume, since it's an EV, that it's an Internal Counter-Combustion Unit.

I swears I thought it was an Illegitimate Child Confinement Unit.

I've never charged our Kia EV6 at a public fast charger and the car has close to 40 thousand miles on it. Maybe that's why the car's illegitimate child confinement unit hasn't bricked yet. I haven't bothered to go to the dealership to get the recall done yet.

Laconian

No need to get superstitious about it. I think it's just random. My car has 13,000 miles on it and the fuse popped 2 minutes into driving.

25 min/day is probably how long TUNDRA spent at gas pumps.

I'm RIPin the grid, too. Not because racecar, though... just electric space heaters are going 24/7.
