I thought it was fake, and anyway I care more about how it looks than whether it looks fake or real, and I think the wood in the old escalade looks like total shit:



^ Please.  That reminds me of the fake wood wood that used to come on 1) the side of chrysler minivans and 2) the sides/top of old TV sets.  It looks like total shit, fake or not.

I'll admit, I haven't been in the new escalade so I haven't had a chance to really examine the interior close-up, I did get a view of it from the outside at NAIAS, but I may have jumped the gun a bit in trashing the GMT-900 escalade interior since I haven't been in it (I stand by my comments that I hate the escalade and everything it represents, though).

I just think the Escalade represents everything that is incredibly stupid about the American consumer.  It's all about spending money you don't have to try and one-up your neighbors, who also buy flashy toys with money they don't have.  People actually think showing off how much debt they have is an indication of status  :rolleyes:

I personally couldn't care less about whether the wood is real or not. I must say, I prefer the look of some false woods to some real ones. I don't care whether it's real, as long as it's attractive.

And the Escalade definitely has an attractive interior.  B)
I agree completely. Fake or not, the new Escalade's wood looks a whole lot better than that of the old one.

Ok, I'm looking at the picture of the escalade interior on page 80 of the May '06 C&D issue.  I know a picture is just a picture, but based on this pic I reiterate my previous view that the wood in the escalade looks like total shit.

The wood in the old Escalade really did look horrible. I remember sitting in one at the dealer while my car was getting an oil change and thinking "damn this sucks." They took the Tahoe interior went and searched for the worst looking wood on the face of the planet, and then took random cheap plasitc peaces out and replaced them with cheaper and worse looking real wood. They had to try to make it suck that badly.


The new interior is very nice looking. I drove the new Tahoe, and it is very nice as well.
