Because we simply don't care about Europe.

I like this combo:

What's with that gap between the back of the instrument panel and the rest of the dash?  Does this mean the instrument panel might move with the steering wheel (like Infiniti)?

I always liked that feature and hope it will be used in all cars.  I often put the steering wheel low, and the top of the gauges are all blocked.

It looks good inside and out, but I can't help but think Cadillac is just keeping up with the market instead of stepping out in front.  Though to Cadillac's credit this market has really heated up since the introduction of the G35 and original CTS.  Before it was just a market for the 3 major German makes, and each carved out it's own comfortable niche and found coexistance. Then the Japanese moved in and upset that balance with their excellent offerings.  Now it seems everyone in the market is gain scrambling furiously to establish a place.

I guess we the consumers win.  These new entry level sports sedans are nothing short of astonishing.

1. GM is a glacial corporation historically, which is hampered by the fact that money is tight for it right now.

2. I think they want to do both the European and British introductions simultaneously, so they will wait to do the conversions--and may even tweak the suspension based on American journalists' reviews.

Well, by the time it comes out here, it won't be competitive with the best in class, suspension tweaks or not.  I thought Cadillac were supposed to be taking the European market seriously now.

If Toyota, DCX et al can bring out a car out across continents within a reasonable period, then GM should be able to as well.

They nailed it with this one.  Excellent work Cadillac! :ohyeah:

We always get the Euro models wait, so we're sticking it to you.

I posted these the original size so you could see a close-up of the navigation screen from several angles:

God, what an ugly car, inside and out.   The steering wheel, the center console just horrible. Not my taste at all. But to each his own I guess.  The interior looks really cheap too, like the plastic on the steering wheel came from a GM minivan.  It;s time Caddy stopped trying to compete in the entry level luxury market and just stick to building grandpa mobiles and  Escalades.

I forgot to add: what are those horizontal bars of metal on the grill? I don't like the styling at all.

Please show me a CTS competitor with a better looking interior.

How about the old C class, the new C class, the BMW 3 series, the Acura. Of course, it's all subjective, but the CTS interior just doesn't do it for me.

At the very worst the CTS looks on-par with the rest.

I still like this CTS, but...

I have to say I don't like "pop-up" Nav screens systems. I very much prefer the systems that take advantage of the big LCD screen as an enhanced user menu for, well, everything. Even when I am not using my Nav screen, I use the screen itself as the interface for my radio, CD player, etc...same deal with my mom's TSX...

  I was kinda coming from Cadillac's side actually.  If they really want to break Europe as we're lead to believe, they need to bring out the cars when they're competitive.  There is a wait for Euro models in the US but I understand it's usually a few months rather than 2 years.

Can't wait to see a comparison of this, the new C-Class and the 3er and A4.

You are right. It's in the middle of the pack in terms of power specs at least. (Well, when you factor in weight.)
They need every advantage they can get after the BLS shame they are selling you guys!

I prefer buttons to menus myself. I prefer to hit one button to get what I want than to try and use a computer while driving.

Sorry, how long did it take?!

2 years, I believe.  You got it in 04, we got it in 06.  Brilliant car.

The Caddy looks to be on par with all of its competition, at least where the interior is concerned. First-hand impressions have been very positive. :ohyeah:

I still use buttons, its just a simpler interface. Instead of having to scroll through options on a small LED screen, I can see everything at once on a (relatively) large LCD screen.

To each their own, really. There doesn't seem to be a consensus on the issue. MB, Infiniti, and Mazda appear to use a similar method as Cadillac. I just happen to prefer it the way Lexus, BMW, Audi, etc... do it. If I was purchasing I doubt it would be a make or break type of thing anyway.
