It's definitely cool, but at the end of the day, I'm buying the FFR.
That's what I would rather have too.

indeed it is as K1 is actually a manufacturer in CR and sells the car as a car.? We need to import it as a kit, which is around $17k
Where did you find that price?

It's just cheaper, proven, and easier to find.  I mean, try finding a running Accord V6 with a stickshift without dropping a lot of money.  87 Stang GT?  They're practically giving them away.

After I build my house, I'm seriously considering a FFR Cobra. I'm also thinking of going with a cheapo V6 donor, because I'd like to go with a Roush engine, Brembo brakes, and the optional FFR suspension pieces.

there was some publicity at the philly autoshow a year or two ago where some high school kids took the chassis and put a TDI VW engine in it and completely embarrased all the greenie hybrid cars in the fuel mileage category for less money and while having more performance.

This one?

I have once again come to the conclusion that my high school sucked.

A cheap Stang V6?  I wonder if the kit will take it.  If so, I'd probably try and stick a Mustang SVO's engine in there.  I also believe they have an IRS option for it.

But how much would you be saving over an 87 GT?

Yes, a V6 'stang will work. My logic is this: The components of a $2000 V6 Mustang should be in much better shape than those of a $2000 GT. A turbo four in a Cobra? Why would you want to do that? And yes, the IRS option uses mechanicals from the T-bird. So there you go... get an '87 T-bird turbo, and you got your SVO engine AND your rear end.

My friend wants to build one with a Subaru 2.5 out of the STI.  With the turbo four from the SVO, you'd probably get a lighter front end, and therefore better distribution?  I'm guessing that the SVO's engine weighs less than the GT's V8.  Can you get those T-birds in stick?

Yes, but I believe they were the crappy Mazda units that also sucked in the Taurus SHO. If I were going to build something around a Subie boxer, it would be a Lotus 7 or something like that. To me, anything other than a V8 in a Cobra kit kinda defeats the purpose.

Exactly.  A Cobra without the V8 rumble is just plain stupid.

I agree, but didn't you just say you wanted to build one with a V6?

 No. I'd dump the V6 and put in a Roush V8. V6 Mustangs are cheaper to obtain... that's what I meant.

Eye of the Tiger

I think the best cheap supercar would be the Chevy 350 in a Porsche 914. They actually makes kits for it. :ohyeah:
