Enough. Instead of bashing my ideas, anyone got some of their own?

chevyguy06

I wasn't bashing your ideas but anyway..

I'm in total agreement about the name changes. I feel that the Taurus name is essentially junk at this point (sorry iffy, I don't buy your argument), and I never had a problem with Five Hundred or Freestyle. I realize Ford wanted to go with a name that already had some equity, but no reputation (Freestyle, Five Hundred) seems better than a bad reputation (Taurus).

They need to get the Euro Focus over here immediately. The warmed-over version we're getting pales in comparison.

Bringing the Falcon here wouldn't be a bad idea, but they should wait for a redesign as the current version is getting on in years. If the G8 sells well, Ford is really going to be missing out.

Raghavan

I didn't see what was wrong with 500 and especially Freestyle. Taurus isn't bad, it has more name recognition, but Taurus X? WTF??? They could've just left it as Freestyle. Freestyle is a good name, Taurus X stinks.

Now those ideas I agree with, Ford has several good cars that are selling in Europe and Australia that we still don't get.

Thank you. And using all F-names for cars, E-names for SUV's is a perfectly okay system. Porsche uses C-names and nobody complains... it's a good way to identify your product.

Raghavan

The Falcon should replace the 500 (no point in keeping both around. If people want FWD, they can get the Fusion or something) and the Galaxy should replace the now dead Freestar

chevyguy06

Aren't they bringing the Fairlane to replace the Freestar though?
'05 Ford Escape XLT V6

Raghavan

Yeah, i guess but the Galaxy looks much better imo.

chevyguy06

Yeah it does, a little boring though IMO.

Raghavan

Better than the Sienna, Quest, Caravan, etc. Except maybe the Odyssey, it looks better than anything else.

chevyguy06

The Odyssey definately looks classy. Also this Galaxy looks a little smaller than the Odyssey,Sienna etc. anyone have any dimensions?
'05 Ford Escape XLT V6

Raghavan

Don't think so... The smax is smaller, but the galaxy is the bigger one.

Funny that you agree with me, as I was essentially paraphrasing Payman's ideas.

Lay off the dope chevyguy. :nono:

GoCougs

Ford has to knock it off with those grills. The Edge IMO is biggest offender; the massive three-bar chrome Levelor blind look with a big fat blue Ford badge smack dab in the middle.

I have to agree with you. It was a neat design element on the Fusion, but now it just looks gaudy.

Boxster, Cayman, Cayenne, 911. Perhaps Porsche's naming system is Ford's model for consistency.

That's like saying the Grand Prix takes sales away from the Impala. Not everyone has the same taste in design, so you want to offer a few variations on the same platform. Nearly every car company does it.

The midsize sedan market is much larger than the tiny-van market. The Mazda5 and Kia Rondo are already battling for the 20k or so annual sales of that market.

Well, the 911 is badged "Carrera" (only one 911 has been badged "911" to my knowledge).

But it is a growing market. It's a new niche that is catching on.

Don't bring over the Ka. Useless bloody thing. It didn't even have a boot release, for goodness sake, and people will laugh at you if you drive one.

Now, exporting Falcons; that's the sort of talk I like to hear :praise:

It'd be a great little $13K runabout. So what if you don't get a "boot" release.

I'd sell most of these cars on this list:

http://www.ford.co.uk/ns7/all_cars/-/-/-/-/-/-

I'd also love a Fiesta ST, though I'd be thrilled if someone were to shove a 170 horse motor in there.  Although, with the current 150PS motor, it's pretty snappy.
