Tripod. One shot hood open, one shot hood closed. Layered the hood closed pic over the hood open pic and then erased the open hood from that layer. It was a quick and dirty job, note whats left of the prop rod on the left. I also didn't lock the exposure for both pics, so its not 100%, but not bad for a first try I think.

Edit, then 50% tranparency the hood closed pic.
Looks awesome in my opinion, you should enter it into the photo competition

Raghavan

Yeah, but no PS'ing is allowed in the photo comps.

TBR

Awesome, now excuse me while I look at prices for 2005 GT wagons

Catman

Not a fan of the seats but I like the rest.

I am jealous.  That car was top on my list, but we couldn't afford it on what we had to spend.  After taxes, fees, registration, and the bump in insurance the actual cost would have been well over $35k, which is about 7K more than we spent on the WRX all said and done.  The Legacy is the real sleeper of the Subaru crowd.  Immensely improved over previous versions, this one is simply the only midsize sedan choice for enthusiasts who need AWD, and can't afford Audi.

Someday maybe five years from now when I am actually making money I'll trade up.

Funny you mention Audi. This car reminded me of my cousins old '05 S4, but I found it far more fun for about half the $.

How's an 05 S4 "old"?

Not actually OLD, but he goes through cars like underwear. He's had an aniversary edition Golf since then, and last I heard he's got a Cayman S now.

Yeah, my bad. My VW knowledge is lacking... Aside from Mexico and electrical gremlins that is. :P

I asked him the same question. I think he started to care less when his Wife started driving the cars more. He drives his business pickup throughout the week.

Now that I think about it, he had an '02 S4 (The twin turbo 6) 6spd, then the GTI, then the '05 S4, and now the Cayman S.

$44,995CAD...
That's insane.  It's a very nice car, but it's not worth that kind of money.

Yeah, I had a tough time trying to justify the price too until I compared alternatives.

Consider (as similarly equipped as possible, all prices in CAD $)
TSX 6spd w/Nav: $40,330.00 (no AWD :( )
Audi A4, 2.0T w 6spd and Nav w 18s : I stopped building it at $48,000
MazdaSpeed 6 w/nav, 18s: $44,984

Now I've driven a 6spd TSX and while it is nice, I would never pay $40k for it. I could be persuaded to spend it on the Spec B though.

That said, I dunno if I'd ever want to spend that much on a car period.

That's a bit much for a Mazdaspeed6 too.  The Audi is at least an entry level luxury sport sedan and so is the Acura, although I wouldn't pay that much for a FWD.  I have a hard time justifying that much money on cars like that though.

TBR

I would consider the Spec B to be an entry level luxury car, it has everything but the badge and I would argue that Subaru carries a lot more prestige than many other badges.

It's more a "near luxury" car than entry luxury.  Mainly because of the badge, though.

TBR

I really want one now. But, it looks like one with all of the goodies (even an 2005) would run around the $20k mark which will be out of my reach for a while to come.

I have a tough time considering anything with a Subaru badge to be even close to being luxury.  Nothing against Subaru, it's just that they aren't known for their "luxury".
