You detractors are dumbasses, this thing is awesome.
+1.  It takes a lot of awesomeness to get me this excited about a new Porsche.

There is no way in hell you can make your Impreza go faster than a Carrera GT, I'm sorry.? Certainly not with a $5000 turbocharger, or a turbo and another five greand in parts.? Maybe if you strapped a Nike Ajax missile to the roof of your car, maybe.? But that;ll run ya a little more thant $5k.

First, I was excluding suspension because that would eat another $2-4k, so this would have to be a drag race.  Second, the $5k was separate from the turbo in my price evaluation.  Third, we're talking about a JDM EJ20 boosted to hell--like 20-25 psi.  Then engine and tranny will cost about $3.5-4K all said and done, and if you do it yourself (understandably you'd have to know what you're doing) and cheap out on the engine management parts by buying used, it might be possible.

This is an 11.39, even though this person has a full setup with suspension, body kit, etc.  So suck it, Trebek.  Suck it long and suck it hard.
2. 1995 Saturn SL2 5-speed, 126,500 miles. 5,000 miles in two and a half months. That works out to 24,000 miles per year if I can keep up the pace.

No different than a motorcycle...
that would be like the CLK GTR. it not like you use the clutch on a motorcycle when you're going flat out anyway.

Galaxy

That looks good for a tuner car, which I am usually not a fan of.

Well, to be fair, several magazine (including C&D) have run 11.0-11.2 seconds at over 130 mph in the Porsche, and that's a car geared to go more than 200 mph. The Impreza gets a nice little hop off the line with awd, but the Carrera pretty much rapes your car from 60 mph up. Your trap speed? The GT can be doing 120 mph in 9.X seconds.

I'm not knocking your efforts or your car, it's sweet any time a street car can shave 2-3 seconds with relatively little investment, and give me an Impreza over a riced-out Honda Civic any day. It's not as fast as the GT though, not unless you're willing to do some major, major engine work and interior/chasis modification.

I don't doubt you can get an impresive 1/4mile time out of an Impreza, but like SVT said, you can't make it faster than Carrera GT even if you manage to meke it quicker off the line.  Can any amount of modification make any Subaru do 215 mph?  I find that very hard to believe.

From the front it looks great, from the rear it looks bad.? The rear roof is terrible and looks like something you'd get at the pick up truck accessory dealer.

If I ever win the Lottery, I'm buying one. No, make that 3. That, a Carrera RS 2.7, import a 959 (sadly I can't drive it), and find me a 550 Spyder. I'd also look for a 3.0 CSL, and a 2002 Turbo. That's not where my list ends.

Who's that.

Bill Gates had about a 10 year legal battle to get his 959 legalized.  Because of it and probably some other laws, they're legal here now.

DAMN. Now I have something to cry about not having.  :(

On the other hand, Bill Gates rose a little bit in my book.

From Forbes Autos:

Microsoft founder, philanthropist and self-proclaimed ?nerd? William Gates III vents his software stress behind the wheel of two Porsches. His daily driver, a 1999 Porsche 911 Convertible is ripe for replacement, especially considering that Porsche has totally redesigned the latest 911, the 997, for 2005. Now, after waiting some 10 years, Gates can finally enjoy his other favorite Porsche: a rare (1 of 230) 1988 Porsche 959 Coupe. In fact, due to the 959?s questionable emissions and unknown crash ratings, it took a federal law signed by President Clinton for Bill Gates to legally drive his 959 on American roads. Rumor has it that Bill Gates and Paul Allen employed Microsoft engineers to write a computer program that could simulate the 959?s crashworthiness, which helped in the bill?s passage.
